Widespread showers and storms across Australia's north, heavy in some areas due to increased humidity and instability. Moist and unstable winds causing showers and storms across the south. Brisk winds and showers expected for western TAS. A high-pressure system keeping elsewhere dry..

State

A high near New Zealand will bring a southeasterly wind surge with rain along the North Tropical Coast, moving north of Cairns Friday and weakening over the weekend. A trough will advance from southwestern Queensland on Saturday, passing eastward across southern and central Queensland by Monday, then drifting westward as it weakens. By late Monday, a new high near Tasmania will extend a ridge over eastern Queensland, moving across the Tasman Sea from Tuesday, with potential for a new southeasterly wind surge along the east coast.

  • Friday: Patchy showers and storms in northern/western QLD. Showers likely in Central Coast, widespread in far north. Chance of severe storms with heavy rain inland. Isolated showers/storms in southern interior. Mostly clear elsewhere. Light/moderate northeast to southeasterly winds, becoming north to northeasterly in far southwest.

  • Saturday: Patchy showers and storms in northern and northwestern Queensland, showers in southern QLD. Sunny elsewhere with possible fog. Temps near average in north, above average in south.

  • Sunday: Patchy showers and storms in southern and northern Queensland, chance of severe storms in the south. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Morning fog possible in spots. Temps near or above average.

  • Monday: Sunny in southwest, showers & storms elsewhere with above-average temps in south & Capricornia coast.



North Tropical Coast and Tablelands:

Max temperature: 32°C, Min temperature: 19°C, Wind speed: 20-30 km/h (E to SE), Rainfall: High chance of showers, Thunderstorm possible, Partly cloudy.

Herbert and Lower Burdekin:

The weather forecast includes a maximum temperature of around 30 degrees, minimum temperature between 19 and 23 degrees, light winds mainly from the east at 15 to 25 km/h, slight chance of a shower, and 'partly cloudy' condition with overnight temperatures dropping to 19-23.

Central Coast and Whitsundays:

The weather will be mostly sunny with a slight chance of a morning shower along the coastal fringe, near zero chance of rain elsewhere, southeasterly winds at 15-20 km/h turning easterly at 15-25 km/h in the morning, with overnight temperatures falling to 19-23°C and daytime highs reaching the low 30s.

Peninsula:

Max temperature: low to mid 30s, Min temperature: mid 20s, Wind speed: light winds becoming easterly 15 to 20 km/h in the morning then becoming light in the late evening, Wind direction: easterly, Rainfall: High chance of showers, Thunderstorm possible in the far southeast, Other: Partly cloudy.

Gulf Country:

Max temperature: low to mid 30s, Min temperature: mid 20s, Wind speed: Light, Wind direction: Other, Rainfall: High chance of showers in the west, medium chance elsewhere, Other: Partly cloudy with the chance of a thunderstorm.

Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders:

The weather will be mostly sunny with temperatures ranging from 19 to 23 overnight, and reaching the low to mid 30s during the day, with easterly winds at 15 to 25 km/h becoming light in the evening and a slight chance of showers in the north, near zero chance elsewhere, with a chance of thunderstorms in the north.

Capricornia:

The weather forecast includes daytime temperatures ranging from low to mid 30s with overnight temperatures between 18 and 22, mostly sunny skies, light winds becoming easterly at 15 to 25 km/h, and no rainfall expected.

Central Highlands and Coalfields:

The weather will be mostly sunny with a slight chance of a shower near Carnarvon Ranges, light winds becoming easterly then northeasterly, minimum temperature around 20°C, maximum temperature in the low to mid 30s, and near zero chance of rainfall elsewhere.

Central West:

Max temperature: mid to high 30s; min temperature: low to mid 20s; wind speed: 20 to 30 km/h; wind direction: east to northeasterly; rainfall: Sunny; other: Light winds

North West:

Max temperature: low to mid 30s, Min temperature: low to mid 20s, Wind speed: light winds becoming easterly-northeasterly 20-30 km/h, Wind direction: East to northeasterly, Rainfall: high chance of showers in northwest, slight chance elsewhere, Other: partly cloudy with chance of a thunderstorm.

Channel Country:

The weather in the Northern Territory border area will be mostly sunny with a slight chance of a shower, and possibly a thunderstorm later in the day, with temperatures ranging from 24 to 29°C overnight and 37 to 42°C during the day, and winds starting light and becoming northwesterly to northeasterly at 15 to 25 km/h before turning northeasterly in the early afternoon, with rainfall expected to be minimal.

Maranoa and Warrego:

Maximum temperature: 43°C, Minimum temperature: 22°C, Wind speed: 15 to 20 km/h, Wind direction: northwest to northeasterly, Rainfall: slight chance of shower, Other: Mostly sunny.

Darling Downs and Granite Belt:

Mostly sunny with a slight chance of showers, thunderstorms, fog in the morning, light winds becoming northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h, with temperatures ranging from 19 to 25 overnight and 34 to 41 during the day.

Wide Bay and Burnett:

The weather will be mostly sunny with light winds becoming east to northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h in the early afternoon, overnight temperatures around 19°C, daytime temperatures reaching the low to mid 30s, and no significant rainfall expected.

Southeast Coast:

Mostly sunny day, chance of thunderstorm in south late afternoon, temperatures range from low 30s during the day to 19-22 overnight, light winds becoming northeasterly 15-20 km/h.
