National

A Tasman Sea high maintains firm ridge over Queensland, with a weak west trough. New trough to move eastwards across the state on Thursday, reaching central and southeastern areas on Friday. Slow-moving trough in central to southeastern Queensland over the weekend and early next week.

The Tasman Sea high is creating a ridge in Queensland, with a weak trough in the west. A new trough will move across the south on Thursday and reach central and southeastern parts on Friday. This trough will move slowly over the weekend and into early next week in central to southeastern Queensland.


4-day

  • Thursday: Expect showers in the North Tropical Coast, Torres Strait, and inland South East Queensland with a slight chance of a thunderstorm in the early evening. The east coast and southern inland will be partly cloudy while other areas will be mostly clear. Winds will be light to moderate from the northeast to southeasterly direction, occasionally freshening along the Peninsula east coast.

  • Friday: Isolated showers and thunderstorms likely in SE Queensland and inland to Carnarvon Ranges/Dalby. Scattered showers in SE Queensland, Torres Strait. Mostly sunny in far west, partly cloudy elsewhere. Wind change in south/central interior. Near/below average minimum temps. Max temps near/above average, higher in SE, lower in SW. High fire danger in interior/northwest.

  • Saturday: Isolated showers, possible thunderstorms in SE Queensland, Capricornia, inland to Emerald and Dalby. Isolated showers in Torres Strait. Mostly sunny in the west, partly cloudy elsewhere. Near or below average minimum temperatures. Maximum temperatures near or above average. High fire danger inland and northwest.

  • Sunday: Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms in Central Highlands. Mostly sunny in southwest, partly cloudy elsewhere. Below average lows, near or above average highs with hot temperatures in southeast. High fire danger inland.
