Tropical Low
Cyclone Lola is now North of Vanuatu 994hPa. It will strengthen till Tuesday then begin to weaken due to the cooler drier air and cooler sea surface temps. It is expected to reach Cat 2, possibly Cat 3 by the 24th .
National
A Tasman Sea high maintains a weak ridge over northern Queensland, leading to settled conditions. An interior trough remains slow-moving, while Tropical Cyclone Lola moves southwest near the Solomon Islands. Lola is expected to weaken offshore of Queensland. An upper low may create a surface low off the southern QLD or northern NSW coast, combining with a strong ridge to produce a strong, cool southeasterly wind change over most of QLD.
State
A high in the Tasman Sea will bring settled conditions in northern Queensland, while a trough in the interior will move slowly. Tropical Cyclone Lola is moving towards the far northeastern Coral Sea, but is expected to stay offshore and weaken. An upper low could cause a surface low off the southern Queensland or northern New South Wales Coast later in the week, resulting in a strong and cool southeasterly wind change across Queensland.
