Rain event special

Scattered showers for the NQ coastline and dividing ranges Saturday, then storms to the West for Sunday around the Isa and then further SW on Monday with continuing trade winds and the tail of the trough for the FNQ coastline.

National

Large high pressure system moves south of Australian Bight, extends ridge over Queensland. Northward trough weakens, inland trough deepens causing rainfall. High moves to Tasman Sea, maintains ridge in east of state.

State

A strong high pressure system south of the Great Australian Bight is moving eastwards and creating a stable weather pattern across most of Queensland. In the north, there is a weakening trough moving westwards. There is a possibility of an inland trough deepening over the interior starting from Sunday, which may bring showers and thunderstorms. The high pressure system will later move into the Tasman Sea on Sunday, bringing continued stability to the eastern part of the state throughout the week.
