High pressure over Tasman Sea extends firm ridge over Queensland. Ridge persists for several days with heat building across southern Queensland next week. Possible trough in second half of next week.

State

A slow high over the Tasman Sea creates a firm ridge over Queensland. This ridge will last for the next few days and bring increasing heat to southern Queensland next week. There is a possibility of a trough moving across southern Queensland later in the week.

  • Sunday: Partial clouds on the east coast, showers north of Ingham, sunny elsewhere. Above average max temps in southwest and southern inland, below average in Far North, near average elsewhere. Above average min temps in southwest, near average on east coast, below average elsewhere. High fire danger in central interior and northwest.

  • Monday: Partly cloudy on the east coast with isolated showers, becoming scattered in the Wet Tropics. Morning fog in the southeast inland. Sunny elsewhere. Above average maximum temperatures in the south, near average elsewhere. Above average minimum temperatures in the southwest, near average on the east coast, below average elsewhere. High fire danger in the southern, central, and northern interior areas.

  • Tuesday: Partly cloudy with isolated showers along the east coast. Scattered showers around Cassowary Coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Max temperatures near average in Far North, above average elsewhere and well above average in the southwest. Min temperatures above average in the southwest, near average on the east coast and Far North, below average elsewhere. High fire danger in central and southern interior.

  • Wednesday: Partly cloudy with isolated showers on the east coast, clearing by Thursday. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Temperatures above average, with well above average maximum temperatures in the south, spreading into the southeast on Thursday.
