National

Tasman Sea high extends ridge over state, while trough moves east weakening, followed by high reaching Tasman Sea Saturday with new ridge.

State

A ridge from a high in the Tasman Sea extends over the state, while a trough in southwest Queensland will move east and weaken. Another high will move across southeastern Australia and extend a new ridge over the state. The high will then drift east over the weekend, maintaining the ridge.


4-day

  • Friday: Some clouds and showers in certain areas, sunny in most places. Temperatures close to average in the Far North, very warm in the southwest, and above average elsewhere.

  • Saturday: Sunny, some clouds, isolated showers in northern areas. Temperatures near or above average.

  • Sunday: Sunny, partly cloudy with some showers in North Tropical Coast. Temperatures average in Far North, higher in southwest and other places.

  • Monday: Mostly sunny, with some clouds and isolated showers in the North Tropical Coast. Clouds and isolated showers also expected in the far southern region of Queensland. Temperatures will be near average in the Far North, well above average in the interior, and above average elsewhere.


Townsville

Max 29°C Sunny. Light winds, becoming E to NE 20-30 km/h midday, then shifting to E to SE 15-25 km/h late afternoon.

Herbert and Lower Burdekin

Max 29°C Sunny. Light winds, becoming E 20-30 km/h in the morning.

North Tropical Coast and Tablelands

Max 28°C Partly cloudy. Slight chance of a morning coastal shower. Mostly sunny. Winds E-SE 25-35 km/h.

Cairns

Max 29°C Partly cloudy. Slight chance of morning showers. Winds SE 25-35 km/h.

Mackay

Max 27°C Sunny. Light winds, becoming E 15-25 km/h, then light in the late evening.

Northern Goldfields

Max 35°C Sunny. Winds E 25-35 km/h, decreasing to 15-25 km/h in the evening.

Mt Isa

Max 36°C Sunny. Winds E to NE 15-20 km/h, shifting to E to SE 20-30 km/h midday, then becoming light in the evening.
