WALLY FAQS

Learn more about Wally

IS WALLY HIS REAL NAME?

No, Wally came from a game the members of the group used to play where Wally would take a photo and everyone would guess where it was taken. It became known as Where's Wally and thus the name stuck.

DOES WALLY DO THIS FULL TIME?

No, Wally works full-time as an educational writer for Universities across the world. Yes he would love to be doing this full-time, and you can help by a Small shout or a Big shout.

WHERE IS WALLY BASED?

Wally is based in Townsvile. This does mean Townsville gets the priority for weather details. But he covers the national weather as this impacts on Queensland, North Queensland and thus Townsville. You can support Wally to expand his reach with a Small shout or Big shout.

WHERE DOES WALLY HAVE COFFEE?

I like to support many coffee shops, but I do live right near Tobruk Cafe, and they know me well.

WHY DOES WALLY LOVE THE WEATHER?

When I was at school, we had a subject called aviation studies. One of the major aspects of that subject was meteorology. While I will never be a pilot, I will forever have my head in the cloud.

WHAT EXPERIENCE DOES WALLY BRING?

I have often asked myself why this group became popular. I was only just making observations and talking about what I thought they meant. But it was explained to me that it's the way I explain things, and the years of experience is why people are drawn to the community. I make sure my knowledge is up to date by completing training and meeting with meteorologists. I worked in Climate Change at JCU, and while that is not the same as weather, it gave me a unique perspective on research into what ultimately determines our weather.
