National Synoptic Situation

Looks like Mother Nature is playing a game of musical chairs with weather systems over Queensland this week. A ridge over the state will be taking a break on Thursday, thanks to a high in the Tasman Sea deciding to drift further east. Meanwhile, a trough will be making its grand entrance in the southwest on Thursday, making its way east across southern and central Queensland on Friday. But wait, there's more! The trough might decide to take a vacation off the southeast coast over the weekend, while its friend, the northern branch trough, sticks around in central and northern Queensland. And as if that wasn't enough, another trough is planning to crash the party over in the Northern Territory later this weekend and into early next week, bringing along some extra cloud cover for western Queensland. To top it all off, a weak high will be making a cameo appearance in southeastern Australia on Sunday, before jetting off to the Tasman Sea early next week and leaving behind a weak ridge over the east of the state. So grab your popcorn and enjoy the show, because it looks like we're in for a wild ride of weather patterns in the coming days.

Thursday, 19th September

Looks like we're in for some warm temperatures in the Maranoa, Warrego, Darling Downs, and Granite Belt Districts today. Make sure to hydrate and stay cool as we reach our high for the day. Sunshine and blue skies await in these regions, so enjoy the weather while it lasts!

Friday, 20th September

There will be some isolated showers in the eastern districts and over Cape York Peninsula, with scattered showers north of Ingham and between the Sunshine Coast and Rockhampton. Western Queensland will mostly enjoy sunny weather, while other areas will experience partly cloudy conditions. Be on the lookout for morning fog between Cairns and Gladstone. Moderate to locally fresh west to southwesterly winds will increase fire dangers inland in central and southern Queensland. Maximum temperatures will be above average, especially in the southeast, and near average in the far southwest. So, brace yourself for some interesting weather patterns today!

Saturday, 21st September

Well, it seems like Mother Nature is feeling a bit moody today. We've got some isolated showers in the east and over Cape York Peninsula, scattered showers along the southeast coast from the Sunshine Coast to Bundaberg, and even a bit of fog between Cairns and Mackay. Don't worry, though, it's mostly sunny everywhere else. Temperatures are playing games too - they're above average for the most part, but near or slightly below average in the far southwest and southern interior. So, grab your umbrella and your sunscreen, because it's going to be a mixed bag out there today. Enjoy the weather, folks!

Sunday, 22nd September

Looks like Mother Nature is feeling a bit indecisive today, with isolated showers popping up in northern Cape York Peninsula and the east coast south of Gladstone. Clouds might decide to crash the party in far western Queensland later on. But fear not, for most of us will be basking in the sunshine like the weather deities we are. Temperatures are also playing games with us, with maximum temps soaring above average, except for those poor souls in the far southwest who might feel a bit chillier than usual. Meanwhile, minimum temps are giving us the cold shoulder in inland central and southern Queensland. So grab your sweaters and your umbrellas, folks, and prepare for a day of weather shenanigans.
