National Synoptic Situation

So, we've got a high chilling over the Tasman Sea, spreading its influence over the east side of the state. This high is a bit lazy though, so it's slowly shuffling east and losing its power. Meanwhile, a trough and some moody clouds are making their way across southwestern Queensland, ready to cause some drama as they head eastward over the next few days. By Friday, the trough will be ready to make its exit off the east coast, but it might decide to hang around and show off just off the southeast coast over the weekend before finally giving up and moving on by Monday. But fear not, a new high will come sauntering in from the Bight later in the week to save the day and bring some stability back to the state.

Thursday, 26th September

Well isn't that just grand? The good folks down in southwestern Queensland are experiencing some rather high fire danger at the moment. It seems Mother Nature has decided to turn up the heat in that neck of the woods. So, if you happen to be in the area, you might want to exercise some caution when playing with matches or setting off fireworks. Just a friendly reminder from your pals at the weather station. Stay safe out there, folks!

Friday, 27th September

Prepare for a smattering of showers and a sprinkle of rain in central and southern Queensland, just south of Mackay and east of Longreach. Showers might decide to throw a party and become more widespread in the southeastern and central regions. Meanwhile, northern Queensland will only receive a few isolated showers, while western Queensland will bask in mostly sunny skies. Temperatures will be feeling a bit below average in central and southern Queensland, but they'll be strutting their stuff near or above average in other areas. As for the minimum temperatures, they'll be feeling a bit chilly in the southwest, but they'll be feeling extra cozy everywhere else. So grab your umbrella and your sunscreen, because Queensland weather is as unpredictable as a reality TV show.

Saturday, 28th September

Grab your raincoat and umbrella, folks! We've got a mixed bag of weather coming our way in Queensland. Expect some isolated to scattered showers and patchy rain, with a chance of a thunderstorm in the central and southeastern parts of the state. Don't be surprised if you get caught in a downpour – moderate to heavy rainfall is possible, especially in the far southeastern areas, depending on the movement of a coastal trough. But don't worry, not everyone will be singing in the rain. There will be isolated showers along the east coast, while the rest of the state can expect mostly sunny conditions. Just remember to dress accordingly, as maximum temperatures will be below average in the southeast and central regions, but above average elsewhere. And when you're snuggling up at night, keep in mind that minimum temperatures will be below average in the west and south, but above average in the east. Mother Nature sure has a sense of humor, doesn't she?

Sunday, 29th September

Prepare yourselves for some isolated showers in the eastern districts, which may become scattered at times in the southeast. You might also encounter some isolated showers in the far southwest, but fear not, as the rest of the state will be mostly sunny. Keep in mind that maximum temperatures will be below average in southeastern Queensland, while they will be above average elsewhere. As for minimum temperatures, expect them to be above average in the west and north, but near average in other areas. So, grab your umbrella and your sunscreen, and enjoy the weather!

Region Round-up

North Tropical Coast and Tablelands

Region Forecast: Looks like we may see a sprinkle near the coast in the morning, but don't get your hopes up for rain elsewhere. Wind will be playing musical chairs throughout the day, starting from the east to southeasterly and ending up east to northeasterly before calling it quits in the evening. Temperatures will drop overnight to a cozy 16 to 21, while daytime highs will hit a toasty 27 to 34. So, grab your sunscreen and a light jacket just in case Mother Nature decides to throw a curveball.
