National Synoptic Situation

Well, folks, it seems like that low off the southeast coast is throwing in the towel and heading further offshore. Meanwhile, a trough is making its way northwards over southeastern Queensland, pushing into inland central Queensland by Wednesday. A high moving east across southern and southeastern Australia will extend a ridge across most of the state, reaching the Tasman Sea on Thursday. And just when you thought it was safe to go outside, another trough may start moving across inland southern Queensland from Friday. Mother Nature sure knows how to keep us on our toes!

Monday, 30th September

The temperatures are set to soar in the Gulf Country, Northern Goldfields, Upper Flinders, North West, and Channel Country Districts. So, brace yourself for some scorching conditions in those areas.

Tuesday, 1st October

Prepare yourself for some isolated showers along the east coast and adjacent inland areas south of Bowen, with scattered showers popping up around the Capricornia and K'gari coasts. The northeast tropical coast will be partly cloudy, while the rest of the region can expect mostly sunny skies. Watch out for patchy fog in the early morning between Cairns and Gladstone. Be wary of dry and gusty south to southeasterly winds, as they will contribute to high fire danger in parts of western and interior Queensland. Maximum temperatures will be above to well above average for most of the state, but remain near average in the southeast. Minimum temperatures will be around average in inland southern Queensland, and mostly above average elsewhere. So, stay alert and keep an eye on the weather if you want to avoid any surprises!

Wednesday, 2nd October

Prepare for a smattering of showers in the eastern districts, with a sprinkling of rain around the Sunshine Coast and the tropical northeast coast above Townsville. There's a chance of scattered showers and a side of afternoon thunderstorms in the central and southern interior, south of Moranbah to Longreach and north of Charleville. The rest of the region will be mostly sunny, with dry and blustery southeasterly winds causing some high fire danger ratings in parts of western Queensland. Temperatures will be hovering near or slightly below average in the southeast and central regions, but generally above average elsewhere. Overnight, expect temperatures to be around average inland in the southeast, but above or well above average everywhere else.

Thursday, 3rd October

Seems like Mother Nature is feeling a bit scattered today, with isolated showers in the eastern districts and the possibility of some rain near the New South Wales border south of Thargomindah. The far southwest is keeping it partly cloudy, while the rest of the region is mostly sunny. Temperatures are playing a game of averages today, with maximums below average in the southeast and around average in the eastern districts. However, western Queensland is going above and beyond with temperatures ranging from above to well above average. Minimum temperatures are also following the average trend, with inland central and southeast Queensland staying on par, while elsewhere temperatures are above or well above average. So, grab your umbrella and your sunscreen, because today's weather is like a box of chocolates - you never know what you're gonna get!
