Australian Satellite Summary
A low pressure system near the Queensland-Northern Territory border is causing thick cloud cover in northeastern and central Australia, with a trough extending into a monsoon trough through the Top End and Kimberley region. Features on the map can be identified by looking for areas of thick cloud, isolated convective activity in the tropical north, mid to high level clouds over New South Wales, South Australia, and eastern Western Australia, as well as low level cloud cover in Victoria, northern Tasmania, and the south coast of New South Wales. Patchy mid to high level clouds are present over southwestern Western Australia, while the rest of the country is mostly cloud free.
Satellite - Rain Accumulation - Storms
Rain typically refers to steady, continuous precipitation that lasts for a longer period, sometimes hours or even days. It can vary in intensity, but it's usually more consistent and widespread.
Showers, on the other hand, are shorter bursts of rain, often intermittent. They can be heavy but usually don't last long. Showers are more sporadic and may be followed by dry periods or other types of weather, like sun or clouds.
