National Synoptic Situation
QLD:
Well folks, it looks like Tropical Cyclone Alfred is on the move towards the southeast coast at a leisurely pace. It's expected to make landfall on Saturday morning, then meander further inland and fizzle out by early next week. Keep an eye out for a weak trough loitering in the western and central interior, while a ridge decides to flex its muscles along the east coast for Sunday and the beginning of next week. This will bring some extra moisture to eastern and northern Queensland, so be prepared for a bit of a damp spell.
NSW and ACT:
Looks like Tropical Cyclone Alfred is taking a leisurely stroll towards southeast Queensland, planning to crash the coastal party on Saturday morning before disappearing into thin air. This means heavy rain, flooding, and strong winds for northeast New South Wales, along with some gnarly surf and tides for the northern coast. As for the rest of New South Wales, a high-pressure ridge is swooping in to save the day, bringing some dry weather until the cyclone's leftovers decide to crash the inland party. So, get your umbrellas ready and brace yourself for a wet and wild weekend, folks!
VIC:
Well, it looks like we've got a high pressure system playing hide and seek to the southeast of Victoria. Meanwhile, a low pressure trough is set to crash the party in western Victoria on Sunday, thanks to the lingering remnants of Tropical Cyclone Alfred in eastern NSW. But wait, there's more! The trough decides to stick around in the west as a low pressure system from the Bight decides to make its grand entrance on Monday. And just when you thought the drama was over, the low decides to take a scenic route southwards to the west of Tasmania by the end of Tuesday. Mother Nature sure knows how to keep us on our toes, doesn't she?
SA:
So, listen up, weather enthusiasts! We've got a high pressure system doing its thing east of Tasmania, stretching a ridge over the waters south of SA. But hold onto your hats because a low pressure system is planning to crash the party south of the Bight later on Sunday, bringing along an associated trough that's just looking for some attention. This low is in no rush to leave, deciding to linger over the waters south of the state while the trough slowly makes its way east across South Australia early next week. So, grab your umbrellas and keep an eye out for some moody weather ahead!
WA:
Seems like there's a trough hanging around the Pilbara coast, just chillin' and slowly making its way further inland towards the southern Kimberley. And guess what? Another trough is planning to crash the party early next week over in the southwest Pilbara. Looks like we've got a trough-ful week ahead of us, folks. Time to bust out the raincoats and umbrellas!
TAS:
Well folks, it looks like we've got a high pressure system hanging out over the Tasman Sea this weekend, bringing us that lovely warm northerly airstream. But hold onto your hats, because a trough is set to crash the party on Monday. And just when you thought it was safe to go outside, another high pressure system is sneaking up on us from the south next week. Mother nature sure knows how to keep us on our toes! So grab your sunscreen and umbrella, because it's going to be a wild ride in Tasmania.
NT:
Well, folks, it looks like we've got a ridge over the Territory that's throwing in the towel this weekend. A high south of the Bight is making its way eastward while a trough from WA is inching closer. Meanwhile, a trough in central districts is feeling a little lost and drifting southward. All this commotion will bring more moisture to the Top End next week, so get ready for some increased showers and storms. Time to batten down the hatches and break out the umbrellas!

Temperatures are playing a game of hide and seek, with below-average highs in the southeast, above-average temps in the far west, and everything else falling somewhere in between.
