National Synoptic Situation
National Temperature and Rainfall

Rainย typically refers to steady, continuous precipitation that lasts for a longer period, sometimes hours or even days. It can vary in intensity, but it's usually more consistent and widespread.
Showers, on the other hand, are shorter bursts of rain, often intermittent. They can be heavy but usually don't last long. Showers are more sporadic and may be followed by dry periods or other types of weather, like sun or clouds.
State conditions
QLD:
Well, looks like the monsoon trough is just hanging out at the base of Cape York Peninsula, refusing to leave northern Queensland alone. It's like that one friend who just won't take the hint to go home after a party. And to make matters even more interesting, a weak ridge is also squatting over the east coast, adding to the chaos. With all this stormy business going on, it's probably a good idea to stay safe and avoid any unnecessary adventures. You never know when Mother Nature might decide to throw a tantrum and unleash a heatwave or two. So, buckle up and stay cool, folks.
NSW and ACT:
Hold onto your hats, folks, because it looks like we've got some stormy weather headed our way! A high pressure system over the Tasman Sea is causing quite the stir, with a ridge extending into northeastern New South Wales. Meanwhile, a pesky trough is making its way over southern and central districts, bringing some rather unsettled conditions. But fear not, for this trough is expected to weaken by Thursday as the dominant ridge takes over. However, don't put away your umbrellas just yet, because come Friday and Saturday, a new trough is set to make an appearance, bringing with it widespread showers and thunderstorms. So, stay safe out there and be prepared for some wild weather ahead. And remember, when Mother Nature decides to throw a tantrum, it's best to just hunker down and ride out the storm.
VIC:
Well folks, it looks like we're in for some wild weather down under. A high to the south of Victoria is making its way into the Tasman sea, while a low pressure trough is extending over the State from the north. This trough is set to deepen on Thursday, bringing with it the potential for storms and heatwaves. So, be sure to stay safe and keep an eye on the forecast as a new high pressure system develops over the weekend. Mother nature sure knows how to keep us on our toes!
SA:
Well folks, it looks like we've got quite the weather show coming up for us. A low pressure trough up in the northeast is just hanging out, not really going anywhere. Meanwhile, a high pressure system is making its way over to Tasmania, so watch out for some wild winds down there. But wait, there's more! Another high pressure system is taking a leisurely stroll south of the Bight, followed by a low pressure trough coming in from the west next week. It's like a weather dance party out there! So, while Mother Nature does her thing, make sure to stay safe and keep an eye out for any incoming storms or heatwaves. And remember, it's always better to be prepared than caught off guard. So grab your umbrella and sunscreen, and let's weather this storm together!
WA:
Looks like Mother Nature is feeling a bit moody up north with that broad low pressure system lingering around. Remember to stay safe and brace yourself for potential stormy weather and heatwaves.
TAS:
Get ready to buckle up for a rollercoaster ride of weather this week! A high pressure system is strutting its stuff over the Bight and extending its influence over Tasmania. But hold on tight, because a cold front is set to crash the party from the southwest on Thursday and make its way across the state on Friday. As if that wasn't enough drama, a high pressure system is swooping in from the Bight on Friday, spreading its wings over Tasmania on Saturday, and then casually strolling to the south of the state on Sunday. It's like a stormy soap opera playing out in the skies above us. So folks, stay safe out there as these weather shenanigans unfold. Keep an eye out for any stormy behaviour or heatwave antics, and make sure to take precautions to protect yourself from Mother Nature's unpredictable mood swings.
NT:
Batten down the hatches, folks, as a feeble low over the western Carpentaria District is set to mosey on over to the Kimberley in the coming days. Meanwhile, a lazy trough will be lounging around in the Gregory and northern Barkly Districts for the rest of the week. With the monsoon gearing up, expect showers and rain to ramp up in the northeast Arnhem District on Thursday before making its way across the Top End and Carpentaria District on Friday and Saturday, sticking around for the weekend. To add to the fun, a ridge will be keeping things toasty with dry easterly winds blowing across the southern NT. Stay safe out there, folks, and remember to keep cool and dry in the midst of all this stormy and hot weather.

NQ Rainfall 24 Accumulated (ACCESS G)
The line of green stretching out into the Coral Sea is the monsoon trough and that is feeding the continual rain where it crosses which is currently about Cardwell. That will move up and down slightly (200km) and the rain with it to the South of the trough. With the low over west that is also impacting on the rain, and mainly inland South of the Gulf and South of Townsville.
