National Synoptic Situation

National Temperature and Rainfall

  • Rainย typically refers to steady, continuous precipitation that lasts for a longer period, sometimes hours or even days. It can vary in intensity, but it's usually more consistent and widespread.

  • Showers, on the other hand, are shorter bursts of rain, often intermittent. They can be heavy but usually don't last long. Showers are more sporadic and may be followed by dry periods or other types of weather, like sun or clouds.

State conditions

QLD:

Well, strap yourselves in, folks, because it looks like we've got a bit of a weather rollercoaster coming our way. The monsoon trough up north is sticking around for a while, possibly heading north next week. Meanwhile, we've got a couple of weak tropical lows doing their thing in the Coral Sea, but thankfully they're moving away from us. Keep an eye out for another low possibly forming near the northeast coast, then heading offshore. Down south, we've got a stubborn ridge hanging out along the east coast and a trough creeping in from the southwest. It might stick around near the NSW border for a bit, so watch out for some stormy weather in the interior. And just when you thought it was safe to go outside, another trough is set to swing through southern Queensland later in the week. So, stay safe out there, mate. Keep an eye on the skies and make sure you're prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws our way. And remember, it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to heatwaves and storms. So slip, slop, slap, and stay cool, cobber.

NSW and ACT:

Well, it looks like Mother Nature is up to her usual antics in New South Wales. We've got a high pressure system causing a ruckus over the Tasman Sea, along with a pesky trough in the west stirring up some showers and thunderstorms. And just when you thought it couldn't get any worse, a cold front is swooping in from the south, bringing along a southerly change that'll make you shiver in your thongs. Stay safe out there, folks, and keep an eye out for those storms and heatwaves. And if you happen to see any kangaroos flying by, you know it's time to seek shelter. It's a wild world out there, but with a bit of Aussie know-how, we'll weather this storm together.

VIC:

Well, would you look at that! We've got ourselves a cheeky low pressure trough sneaking its way up north, giving us a bit of a stir. Meanwhile, a high pressure ridge down south near Tassie is inching its way eastward towards the Tasman Sea, bringing a bit of stability to our southern mates. Now, with all this weather shenanigans going on, it's probably a good idea to keep an eye out for any storms or heatwaves heading our way. Remember to stay safe out there, mate!

SA:

Well, it looks like we've got a pesky low pressure trough camping out in the far north east for a while. Meanwhile, a high pressure system down south is slowly making its way over to Tasmania. And just to keep things interesting, a low pressure trough is gearing up to crash the party near the western border on Monday, before getting a boot out east by a front on Wednesday. So, brace yourselves for some wild weather antics this week, with storms and heatwaves potentially on the horizon. Remember to stay safe and prepared for whatever Mother Nature decides to throw our way.

WA:

Well, looks like ol' mate low pressure trough is just chillin' up there in northern WA, not really sure what it's up to. Meanwhile, out in the ocean, we've got a Tropical Low getting its act together near the north Kimberley coast. It's gonna mosey on down towards the west Kimberley coast and might even decide to become a Tropical Cyclone by Monday. So, if you're in the northern parts of WA, keep an eye out for some wild weather heading your way. Stay safe, stay cool, and make sure you're prepared for anything that Mother Nature decides to throw at you. And remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to storms and heatwaves.

TAS:

Well, strap yourselves in, mates, because we've got a high pressure system hangin' out down south near the Bight, sendin' a cheeky east to southeasterly breeze our way. This bad boy is gonna creep south of Tassie today and tomorrow, settlin' over the Tasman Sea by Tuesday. And you know what that means - get ready for some warmer northeasterly winds comin' our way. But hold onto your hats, because by Wednesday those winds are gonna pick up even more, blowin' in some serious heat. And just when you thought it couldn't get any hotter, Thursday rolls around with a low centre and cold front headin' our direction from the west. That's right, folks, we've got a storm brewin' and it's gonna make its presence known later on Thursday. So, make sure you're stayin' safe out there, folks. Keep an eye on the weather updates and be prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws our way. And remember, it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to stormy weather and scorchin' heatwaves. So, take care and look after yourselves, alright?

NT:

G'day mates, it's gonna be a wild one up north with the monsoon trough causing some scattered showers in the Gregory and northern Barkly Districts. Down south, you'll be sweating bullets with those scorching hot temperatures sticking around until a trough and some clouds decide to crash the party later in the week. So, stay safe out there and keep cool during this Aussie weather rollercoaster.

Temperature and Rainfall Forecast - Access-G

Monday, 10th February

Looks like there's a bit of a mixed bag weather-wise today, with some areas getting a good drenching while others just getting a light sprinkle. We've got some scattered showers and thunderstorms hanging around, so make sure you've got your brolly handy if you're out and about. Up north, it's looking like there could be some heavy rain coming down, so be careful if you're driving in those areas. And don't forget those southeasterly winds down south - they can really mess up your hairdo! Temperatures are pretty much where you'd expect them to be, with a few spots getting a bit warmer than usual. Just remember to stay hydrated and slap on that sunscreen if you're heading outside. Stay safe out there, mates!

Tuesday, 11th February

G'day mates! Looks like we've got some scattered showers and thunderstorms brewing up in the interior south of Winton, with a bit of rain scattered around Windorah, Emerald and Gympie. Keep an eye out for some isolated showers in the eastern districts too. Up north, from Bowen to Winton, we're in for some thunderstorms and showers that could get pretty heavy. So, make sure you've got your brolly handy and stay safe out there! And for our mates up in the tropical east coast between Ayr and Cairns, be prepared for some widespread rain with heavy falls possible. Remember, safety first when it comes to those heavy downpours! Temperatures are looking a bit all over the place, with some areas slightly below average in the north and above average in the southern interior. So, keep cool and stay hydrated during this unpredictable weather. Cheers and stay safe out there, cobbers!

Wednesday, 12th February

Looks like we've got a bit of weather coming our way, folks. Some scattered showers and thunderstorms up north around Townsville and Hughenden, possibly spreading further out over the northern Peninsula. Keep an eye out for those storms, especially if you're in the Darling Downs or Granite Belt areas - they might get a bit severe. Temperatures are sitting around average for this time of year, but it's heating up a bit in the west and southern interior. So make sure you stay hydrated and slap on that sunscreen to avoid getting burnt to a crisp. And if you do find yourself caught in a storm, remember to stay safe and seek shelter until it passes. Mother nature can be a bit unpredictable, so it's always better to be prepared.

Thursday, 13th February

Bloody showers and thunderstorms scattered about, maybe even joining forces up north for a good drenching. It's gonna be hotter than a snag on the barbie out west, a bit cooler in the southeast, and just right in the middle. Stay safe out there and watch out for any wild storms or heatwaves, mate.

Region Round-up - BOM

North Tropical Coast and Tablelands

Region Forecast: Well, looks like we've got some moody clouds rolling in, with a very high chance of rain and even a cheeky thunderstorm to keep us on our toes. There's a chance of some heavy falls inland, so be prepared for a bit of a soaking. The winds will start off light but will pick up to a northwest to northeasterly breeze of 15 to 20 km/h in the early afternoon, before calming down again in the late afternoon. Overnight, temperatures will drop to a balmy 19 to 24 degrees, with daytime highs reaching 24 to 29 degrees. So, make sure to stay safe out there, especially if you're caught in a storm or facing a heatwave. Keep an eye on the skies and remember to stay hydrated. Mother nature can be a bit unpredictable, but with a bit of caution, we'll all weather the storm just fine.
