National Synoptic Situation
National Temperature and Rainfall

Rainย typically refers to steady, continuous precipitation that lasts for a longer period, sometimes hours or even days. It can vary in intensity, but it's usually more consistent and widespread.
Showers, on the other hand, are shorter bursts of rain, often intermittent. They can be heavy but usually don't last long. Showers are more sporadic and may be followed by dry periods or other types of weather, like sun or clouds.
State conditions
QLD:
Well, it looks like New Zealand has graciously decided to extend a high our way, giving us a weak ridge along the coast. Meanwhile, a weak trough is hanging out over the southern interior, probably trying to figure out where it left its keys. But wait, there's more! A more vigorous trough is making its way in from the southwest, ready to sweep through central and southern parts of Queensland like a broom through a dusty room. So, what can we expect from this weather circus act? The trough will be doing its thing today and Saturday, before finally deciding to take a break and move offshore on Sunday. But don't get too comfortable, because the northern portion of the trough will linger in the interior next week, while a ridge builds along the east coast. It's like a never-ending game of weather tag, with one system chasing the other around the playground. So, grab your umbrella and hold onto your hats, because it's going to be a wild ride!
NSW and ACT:
Well folks, it looks like we've got a cold front making its way through New South Wales, bringing along a southerly change that's fashionably late. This trough will be moving northeast on Saturday, with the change hitting the border bright and early on Sunday morning. But fear not, behind this system is a high pressure system sauntering across the Bass Strait, extending a high pressure ridge across the state and bringing us some stable conditions for the start of next week. So get ready to break out your scarves and mittens, because it's going to be a chilly one!
VIC:
Well, it seems like that high pressure system down south is really flexing its muscles, building a ridge over Victoria and giving us a nice cool southwesterly airstream. This ridge isn't going anywhere, so get ready for more of that cool breeze throughout the weekend and into next week. Looks like Mother Nature wants us to keep our sweaters handy!
SA:
Well, it appears that a high pressure system is taking a leisurely stroll from Western Australia to the south of the Bight by the weekend, eventually making its way over to Tasmania by Monday morning. As if that wasn't exciting enough, a trough will start to rear its head in the west of the state on Monday. So grab your umbrellas and brace yourselves for some weather shenanigans!
WA:
Well, it seems like Mother Nature is feeling a bit dramatic with severe tropical cyclone Zelia lurking off the Pilbara coast. This slow-moving system is expected to make a turn south on Friday, heading straight for the Pilbara coast. Brace yourselves, folks, as Zelia is set to make a grand entrance late on Friday, crossing the central Pilbara coast. And just to add to the fun, there's a broad low pressure trough extending from the cyclone all the way across the Kimberley. Looks like we're in for a wild ride, so make sure you've got your raincoat and umbrella handy!
TAS:
Well, grab your sweaters because a trough is making its way over from the west tonight, followed by a low in the Tasman Sea bringing some chilly southerly winds. But don't worry, a high south of the Bight will come to the rescue on Sunday. Just be prepared for a cold front to sweep through on Monday night into Tuesday. Stay warm and stay dry, folks!
NT:
Ah, it appears that the monsoon is feeling a bit clingy in the Top End but will soon be ghosting to the north coast over the weekend, then breaking up with us completely at the start of next week. A band of clouds and some southerly winds are crashing the party, bringing cooler temps and a bit of scattered rain to the southern NT. Unfortunately, this cloud band will be pulling a disappearing act on Saturday, and a ridge will be introducing some dry southeasterly winds to the southeastern NT. Looks like we'll need to break out the umbrellas and sweaters for this unpredictable weather dance. Stay dry and stay cool, folks!

Temperature and Rainfall Forecast - Access-G

Saturday, 15th February
Grab your umbrellas and sunscreen, folks! It's going to be a mixed bag of weather out there today. Expect some scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in most areas, but don't be surprised if you find yourself caught in a downpour up north. And if you're in central or southeast Queensland, keep an eye out for some potentially severe thunderstorms - because who doesn't love a bit of excitement in their day, right? Temperatures will be all over the place, with some areas feeling cooler than usual while others are heating up. So, if you're in the southwest, you might want to grab a jacket. But if you're on the northeast coast or in the central and northern interior, get ready to sweat it out a bit. And if you happen to be on the North Tropical Coast, well, you might want to invest in a good fan because a severe heatwave could be heading your way. So there you have it, your weather forecast in a nutshell. Stay dry, stay cool, and most importantly, stay prepared for whatever Mother Nature decides to throw your way.
Sunday, 16th February
Grab your sunscreen and an umbrella because Mother Nature is feeling a little moody today. Expect some clouds hanging out in the southwest from Cloncurry to Chinchilla, with a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms popping up randomly everywhere else. Cape York Peninsula is in for a show with some scattered thunderstorms coming their way. Temperatures will be playing tricks on us, with the southern interior staying cooler than usual, the Gulf Coast feeling pretty average, and everywhere else cranking up the heat. If you're up north on the Tropical Coast, be prepared for some serious heatwave conditions. Stay cool, folks!
Monday, 17th February
Looks like Mother Nature has her mood swings in full force today. Partly cloudy skies over the central and southern interior, with a chance of scattered showers popping up here and there. Don't be surprised if you hear a rumble or two up north of St Lawrence - those isolated thunderstorms are just Mother Nature showing off. Temperatures are all over the place, with below average highs in southern Queensland and above average heat in the northwest and northeast coast. If you're in the interior of Cape York Peninsula, you might want to keep an eye out for those scattered showers making an appearance. Just another day in the wild world of weather!
Tuesday, 18th February
Grab your sunscreen and raincoat, folks! Expect some clouds hanging around the central and southern interior, gradually making their way to the southwest by Thursday. You might encounter a few scattered showers in other areas, with the chance of isolated thunderstorms up north near Townsville, spreading to the central interior by Thursday. Temperatures will be hotter than your average Joe out west, but more chill in other parts. So, pack accordingly and enjoy the random weather rollercoaster!
