National Synoptic Situation
National Temperature and Rainfall

Rainย typically refers to steady, continuous precipitation that lasts for a longer period, sometimes hours or even days. It can vary in intensity, but it's usually more consistent and widespread.
Showers, on the other hand, are shorter bursts of rain, often intermittent. They can be heavy but usually don't last long. Showers are more sporadic and may be followed by dry periods or other types of weather, like sun or clouds.
National Synoptic Situation
QLD:
Queensland is in for a fun time with a persistent ridge hanging out overhead, thanks to a high chillin' in the Tasman Sea. Tropical Cyclone Alfred is also in the mix, just off the coast in the Coral Sea, ready to join forces with the ridge to amp up the wind and waves along the east coast. If you're feeling lucky, you might get a visit from Alfred later in the week or over the weekend, but who knows, it might just keep its distance. And let's not forget about that trough loitering in the southwest - it's not going anywhere anytime soon. So grab your umbrella and hold onto your hats, Queensland - it's going to be a wild ride!
NSW and ACT:
Well, well, well, looks like we've got a trough hanging out in northern New South Wales, casually flirting with the Hunter coast. Meanwhile, a high pressure system near Bass Strait is slowly making its way to the Tasman Sea, probably to catch some rays. The trough along the Hunter coast is predicted to throw in the towel soon as the high pressure system extends its reach across the state's eastern side. A broad trough is just chilling out in the inland areas, not really moving much. Don't expect much change in this pattern, except for some coastal southerly winds giving the southern and central coast a gentle brush later in the week. Oh, and don't forget about the cold fronts sliding past to the south on the weekend - they might shake things up a bit. So grab your sweaters, folks!
VIC:
Well, it looks like Victoria is in for a bit of a weather rollercoaster this week. A high pressure system is hanging out to the southeast, extending a ridge over the state while a front and trough slowly make their way across the Bight. The trough will sweep through on Wednesday, followed by a cold front passing to the south. Thursday will bring a brief moment of calm with a ridge in place, but don't get too comfortable because a series of fronts will be brushing southern Victoria on Friday and over the weekend. Time to dust off the umbrella and maybe invest in some waterproof shoes.
SA:
Looks like we've got a stubborn high-pressure system chilling out to the south of us this week, while a lazy trough decides to hang around up in the far northeast. Just typical weather patterns doing their thing, nothing to get too worked up about. Just make sure to keep an eye on any potential changes in the forecast, so you can plan accordingly.
WA:
Looks like northern WA is dealing with a broad trough. Not ideal for picnics, but great for those interested in meteorology.
TAS:
Well, it seems like Tasmania is in for a bit of a weather rollercoaster this week. A high to the east will be bringing in some northerly winds on Wednesday, followed by a weak cold front later in the day. Then, another high will be making its way over Tasmania on Thursday, only to be followed by yet another cold front on Friday. And just when you thought it couldn't get any more exciting, Saturday will bring some northwesterly winds before another cold front hits the west in the evening. So, grab your umbrella and hold on tight, because it's going to be a wild ride!
NT:
Well, it appears we have a weak ridge loitering around southern NT, while a weak trough is hanging out in central NT. Meanwhile, another weak ridge up north is sending in some dry air to the southern parts of the Top End. This means showers and thunderstorms will be playing hard to get from Friday onwards. So, grab your umbrella, or don't, because chances are you won't even need it.

TC Alfred forecasts are again all over the place post March 1st, and even March 1st appears suspect. It opens up the chance that again the Tropical Cyclone may just graze the coastline as it heads South. But there is still enough evidence to show a crossing but the timing is the main issue. And so hopefully by tomorrow we should have a better idea, being 4 days out from a possible crossing. We should see more agreement between the three major models late tomorrow. What is of note is the intensity has increased for the GFS model.
Temperature and Rainfall Forecast - Access-G

Wednesday, 26th February
Well, it seems like the interior is really heating up, and not in a good way. We're talking high fire danger levels here, so maybe think twice before attempting that impromptu bonfire. Stay safe out there, folks!
Thursday, 27th February
Grab your umbrella if you're near the coast, there might be a sprinkle or two coming your way. Keep an eye out for a possible thunderstorm up north, just to keep things interesting. And don't forget your sunscreen, it's looking sunny everywhere else. Watch out for those strong winds along the east coast - they might mess up your hair if you're not careful. Temperatures will be a bit higher out west and down south, but nothing too extreme. Just another day in the wonderful world of weather!
Friday, 28th February
Grab your umbrella if you're in far eastern districts or over northern Cape York Peninsula - there's a chance of isolated to scattered showers. And don't forget your lightning rod if you're in the far northwestern Cape York Peninsula, where a thunderstorm may make an appearance. For the rest of us, enjoy mostly sunny skies, with temperatures hitting above average in the west and southern interior, and near average everywhere else. Just a heads up - severe heatwave conditions are in full swing in the northwest. Stay cool, friends!
Saturday, 1st March
Grab your raincoat if you're in the east or up north, you might get a sprinkle or two. But if you're elsewhere, enjoy the sunshine while it lasts! Temperatures are soaring in the west and south, so be prepared to sweat it out. And if you're in the northwest, well, good luck staying cool in that severe heatwave!
