National Synoptic Situation
National Temperature and Rainfall

Rainย typically refers to steady, continuous precipitation that lasts for a longer period, sometimes hours or even days. It can vary in intensity, but it's usually more consistent and widespread.
Showers, on the other hand, are shorter bursts of rain, often intermittent. They can be heavy but usually don't last long. Showers are more sporadic and may be followed by dry periods or other types of weather, like sun or clouds.
State conditions
QLD:
Well, it seems like Mother Nature is having a field day up in Far North Queensland with the monsoon trough stretching its legs and causing chaos. Tropical lows near the Gulf and northeast tropical coasts are ramping up the rainfall in those areas, so watch out for some wet and wild weather. As if that wasn't enough, a ridge is stubbornly hanging out over the east coast, making things a bit toasty for everyone south of the trough. It's not going anywhere fast, so get ready to sweat it out for a few more days. Stay safe out there, folks. With storms and heatwaves on the horizon, it's important to take precautions and look out for each other. And remember, it's better to be safe than sorry when it comes to dealing with Mother Nature's mood swings.
NSW and ACT:
Looks like we've got a classic case of a weakening high pressure system over the Tasman Sea doing its thing, extending a ridge across the eastern areas while an inland trough just chills out in the far west. This setup is basically like a playground for heat and moisture, thanks to a northerly airstream. And guess what? It's not going anywhere for a while. But wait, there's more! Brace yourselves for some coastal southerly wind changes coming in hot (or should I say cool?) mid to late this week. These changes will give us a little break from the scorching temps in the southeast. So, if you're planning on heading out, make sure to stay safe and hydrated. You never know when Mother Nature might throw a curveball in the form of a heatwave or storm.
VIC:
Well, looks like Mother Nature is serving up a delightful mix of heatwaves and storms for us this week in Victoria. A high in the Tasman Sea is teaming up with an inland trough to give us a blast of hot northerly air. But fear not, for on Tuesday the trough will saunter across the state, bringing in a refreshing southerly breeze from the west. Just when you thought the drama was over, the trough decides to hang out in northeast Victoria on Wednesday before making its way back west on Thursday. A new ridge of high pressure in the Southern Ocean will also be joining the party. So, stay safe out there and be prepared for whatever wild weather antics come our way!
SA:
Well, it appears we have a little rendezvous happening with some troughs in the state. One from the north east and another from Western Australia are set to join forces on Tuesday, creating a long stretch of trouble from the central north down to the Victorian border. As if that weren't enough excitement, a high south of the state will start to ridge up along the coast on Friday. With all this commotion brewing, it's important to stay safe and prepared for any stormy or scorching conditions that may come our way. Keep an eye on the weather updates and be sure to take necessary precautions to protect yourself from any extreme heatwaves or severe storms that may be headed our way.
WA:
Well, looks like we've got a cheeky little trough hanging out over the North Interior and southern Kimberley, casually extending west into the Pilbara. Just a friendly reminder to stay safe out there in the midst of potential storms and heatwaves. Mother Nature can be a bit unpredictable, so it's always best to be prepared.
TAS:
Batten down the hatches, folks! We've got a high hanging out to the east of Tasmania, sending a ridge down south. But watch out, because that ridge is going to start wimping out come Monday as a cold front saunters in from the west. Brace yourselves, because that cold front is set to barrel through Tasmania on Tuesday, followed by another high sneaking up from the west on Wednesday. By Wednesday night, that high will be lounging over the state, only to jet off over the Tasman Sea come Thursday. And just when you thought it was safe to go outside, a trough is going to stretch itself out over northwestern Tasmania Thursday night. So stay safe out there, because stormy weather and heatwaves are on the horizon!
NT:
Get ready for some wild weather in the Gregory and Carpentaria Districts this week. A tropical low might just decide to crash the party and bring along some intense showers and storms. With easterly winds being directed to the south of the trough, things could get pretty heated. Stay safe out there and make sure to have your umbrellas and sunscreen handy!

NQ Rainfall 24 Accumulated (ACCESS G)
The remnants of the previous system are now offshore and only some coastal regions experiencing rainfall. Over the next 4 days there are two systems to watch and that is the low around the Gulf and the low out in the Coral Sea. Neither are expected to deepen into a Cyclone, but in the meantime the low around the Gulf will begin to draw rain back from the Coral Sea Tuesday morning and then continue to build and move about.
Temperature and Rainfall Forecast - Access-G

Tuesday, 4th February
Prepare your umbrellas and raincoats, as isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are on the horizon. The eastern districts south of Mackay may only experience showers, while the central interior and northern Queensland are in for some widespread showers. In the Far North and tropical east coast, areas of rain may pop up from time to time. Keep an eye out for moderate to heavy rainfall in the Peninsula, Gulf Coast, and tropical east coast between Mackay and Wujal Wujal. The weather will be dependent on the position and strength of a trough and any associated tropical lows, so be prepared for anything. Light to moderate northeast to southeasterly winds are expected, with some fresh winds in the far west and a shift to northerly winds in Far North Queensland. Maximum temperatures are forecasted to be near or below average, especially in the central and southern interior where temperatures will be well below average. Stay safe and stay cool in the heatwaves!
Wednesday, 5th February
Grab your umbrellas, Queenslanders! Today's weather report includes a mix of clouds and isolated showers in the south, with a chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms in other areas. Be prepared for some stormy weather, especially in the north where heavy rainfall is possible. Stay safe and watch out for those unpredictable storms and heatwaves. And remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry!
Thursday, 6th February
Prepare for a mix of sunshine and scattered showers across Queensland, with a chance of thunderstorms in some areas. Keep an eye out for isolated showers in the far southwest and southern interior, and don't be surprised if you hear a rumble of thunder east of Bollon. Showers may become more widespread as you head north, with the potential for moderate to heavy rainfall in some areas. Despite the heatwave in the far southern interior, temperatures will be below average in central and northern Queensland. Remember to stay safe in any storms or heatwaves that come your way!
Friday, 7th February
It seems like Mother Nature is feeling a bit moody today, with some scattered showers and thunderstorms in the forecast. Make sure to pack your umbrella and have your rain boots ready in case things get a little wet out there. As for temperatures, it looks like things will be a bit cooler than usual in central and northern Queensland, but don't get too comfortable because the southern interior might be a bit warmer than expected. Stay hydrated and find some shade if you're out and about. Remember, safety first! Keep an eye on the weather updates and take necessary precautions to stay safe during any storms or heatwaves that may come your way. Let's all weather this together!
