State conditions
QLD:
Hold onto your hats, Queenslanders, because we've got a trough making its way through the north and a high in the Tasman Sea flexing its ridge muscles down south. This dynamic duo is set to push some stormy weather up north in the coming days. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, we've got another trough eyeing the southern interior next week, bringing along a scorching hot airmass. So, buckle up and stay safe out there, because it looks like we're in for a wild ride of storms and heatwaves.
NSW and ACT:
Looks like Mother Nature is playing a game of pass the parcel with troughs and high pressure ridges in NSW this week. First up, we've got a trough moving away from the north coast, leaving us under a high pressure ridge. But wait, there's more! A new trough is set to saunter across inland NSW, dragging some dry heat from central Australia along for the ride on Tuesday and Wednesday. But fear not, a cool change is on the horizon after that. As the week progresses, a fresh ridge of high pressure will swoop in, bringing some stability to the state. So, while we may be in for a stormy start and a scorching midweek, remember to stay safe and keep cool in the heatwave. Mother Nature can be quite the joker, so it's best to be prepared for anything.
VIC:
Well, it seems like we've got a bit of a weather cocktail brewing over in Victoria with low pressure troughs and high pressure systems doing their thing. Just a heads up, this trough is planning to saunter its way eastwards across the state on Monday and Tuesday, before gallivanting over to the Tasman Sea by Wednesday. And let's not forget about our trusty ridge extending over Victoria from a high in the Bight on Wednesday and Thursday. Now, I know we all love a good storm or heatwave, but let's make sure we stay safe out there. Keep an eye out for any wild weather and remember to take precautions to protect yourself. Stay safe, folks!
SA:
Well, it appears that a high southeast of Tasmania is feeling rather fancy as it extends a ridge over the waters to the south of SA. Meanwhile, a weak trough in the west seems to be trying to join the party on Sunday and will likely extend eastwards on Monday. Not to be outdone, another high centered southeast of the Bight is also getting in on the action by extending a ridge over waters to the south of SA from Monday onwards. With all this commotion in the atmosphere, it's important to stay safe and be prepared for any storms or heatwaves that may come our way. Remember, it's always better to be safe than sorry when dealing with Mother Nature's temperamental moods.
WA:
Well, isn't Mother Nature just feeling a bit dramatic today? A low pressure trough is hanging out over the Kimberley, while a potential cyclone is brewing off the Pilbara coast. This system is expected to strut its stuff parallel to the coast, showing off its damaging winds to anyone who dares to get too close. So, if you happen to be in the path of this storm, maybe consider staying indoors and sipping a cool drink instead. Safety first, folks!
TAS:
Well, it seems like we've got a high pressure system that's taking its sweet time hanging out to the southeast of Tasmania, extending a ridge over the state. Tomorrow, that ridge is going to throw in the towel and weaken as a weak trough saunters on in. But don't worry, a weak cold front is set to crash the party on Wednesday morning from the west, followed by another ridge swooping in to save the day in the afternoon. Things start to get a bit dramatic on Thursday as a trough deepens over eastern Bass Strait, and by Friday, another ridge decides to show up fashionably late over Victoria. So, stay safe out there, folks, and brace yourself for whatever weather shenanigans Mother Nature decides to throw our way.
NT:
Well, it appears that a feeble ridge is casually stretching across the southern NT, while a rather dramatic trough is making its way through the Tanami and Barkly Districts. This trough seems to be feeling adventurous and plans to saunter southwards into the Lasseter and Simpson District on Wednesday. Meanwhile, a broad area of low pressure seems to be just hanging out in the north, not really up to much. In other news, it seems like there may be some stormy or scorching conditions on the horizon, so please remember to stay safe out there. Whether it's thunderstorms or heatwaves, it's always best to be prepared and take necessary precautions. Stay cool and dry, folks!

As for temperatures, they'll be above average in the west and near average elsewhere. So, stay cool and hydrated, especially if you're out and about in the heat. And if you happen to find yourself in the path of a severe thunderstorm, remember to stay safe and seek shelter. Mother Nature can be a bit unpredictable, so it's always best to be prepared.

Wednesday, 22nd January
Looks like Mother Nature is turning up the heat in Queensland, folks! So, if you're in the southern interior or southwest, you can expect mostly sunny skies. But don't let that fool you, because isolated showers and thunderstorms might pop up elsewhere. And if you're in Far North Queensland or the northern Peninsula, you might want to grab your umbrella because those storms could be scattered or even widespread at times. Now, when it comes to temperatures, it's going to be a scorcher in parts of central, southern, and southeast Queensland. In fact, we're talking severe heatwave conditions. So, make sure you stay safe and stay hydrated. Remember, it's not just about staying cool, it's also about staying safe during these extreme weather events.
Thursday, 23rd January

Keep an eye out for isolated showers and thunderstorms, especially in the Far North Queensland region. In the far southwest and southern interior, you might spot some partly cloudy skies - a nice break from the scorching sun! Don't let the heatwave conditions catch you off guard - make sure to stay hydrated and seek shade whenever possible. And if you do find yourself caught in a storm, remember to take cover and stay safe. It may be hot out there, but with a little caution, you can weather any storm that comes your way.
