National Temperature and Rainfall

State conditions

QLD:

Hold onto your hats, Queenslanders! A trough up north is making its way to the Cape York Peninsula, but don't worry, it's losing steam. Meanwhile, a ridge is just hanging out over eastern Queensland. But wait, there's more - a new trough is on the horizon, bringing some scorching heat from the inland areas to the east. By Friday, it might just park itself over central Queensland for the weekend. So, stay safe out there and keep cool during these stormy heatwaves!

NSW and ACT:

Hold onto your hats, folks! A high pressure ridge is currently dominating the eastern half of the state, causing hot and dry conditions in the west. But fear not, a trough is brewing in the far west, ready to bring some relief. Keep an eye out for a cool and gusty southerly change on Wednesday, which will sweep through Sydney like a southerly buster in the afternoon. Remember to stay safe and hydrated during these stormy and heatwave conditions.

VIC:

Get ready for some wild weather as a trough lazily makes its way across the state tonight and into Tuesday, followed by a cold front crashing into Tasmania. A ridge will be chilling out over Bass Strait on Wednesday and Thursday, while the trough gets all deep and moody over central Victoria and eastern parts on Thursday and Friday. Stay safe out there and remember to keep hydrated during any heatwaves or storms!

SA:

Looks like South Australia is in for a real treat this week with a ridge of high pressure and a trough teaming up to bring some delightful south to southeasterly flow. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, a stronger high pressure system is making its way south of the Bight for the weekend. But hold on to your hats (literally, because it's going to be windy), because with all this pressure and flow, we could be in for some wild weather. Think storms, heatwaves, and all things extreme. So, stay safe out there and remember to hydrate, seek shelter, and maybe invest in a good pair of sunglasses. Mother Nature isn't messing around this time.

WA:

Well, well, well, it seems like there's a cheeky low pressure trough hanging out over the Kimberley. And guess what? Tropical Cyclone Sean is also in town, off the western Pilbara coast, ready to stir things up. This cyclone is on a mission to whip up some damaging winds along the Pilbara coast, so hold onto your hats, folks. If Tropical Cyclone Sean decides to take a detour south, the North West Cape might just get a taste of some destructive winds early today. So, stay safe out there and batten down the hatches if you're in the firing line. Mother Nature's throwing a bit of a tantrum, so let's not get caught in the crossfire.

TAS:

Hold onto your hats, dear citizens, as a feeble trough saunters its way eastwards across the state for the next couple of days. By Wednesday morning, a lackluster cold front will make its grand entrance from the west, only to be swiftly followed by a ridge of high pressure in the afternoon. But wait, there's more! A trough will deepen over eastern Bass Strait come Thursday, before making its way east on Friday, paving the way for yet another ridge of high pressure. Batten down the hatches and stay safe, my friends, as we navigate through these tumultuous times of weak troughs and cold fronts. And remember, while the weather may be unpredictable, our safety should always remain a top priority.

NT:

Well, isn't Mother Nature just feeling a bit moody in the northern NT? A trough is causing a bit of chaos in the Tanami and Barkly Districts, and it's slowly making its way down to the Lasseter and Simpson Districts. And just when you thought it couldn't get any more exciting, a weak ridge in the southern NT is flexing its muscles on Friday. So, brace yourselves for some stormy weather and scorching heatwaves. Remember to stay safe out there, folks!

Temperature and Rainfall Forecast - Access-G

Tuesday, 21st January

Well, it seems like the sun is making a grand entrance in inland southern Queensland today, with a sprinkle of showers possible along the southeast coastal fringe. And let's not forget about those isolated showers and thunderstorms popping up here and there. Don't be surprised if you hear a rumble or two. But hold onto your hats, because things might get a bit wild over the northern Peninsula and tropical east coast. We're talking scattered showers and thunderstorms causing a real commotion. And in case you're wondering, severe thunderstorms could crash the party over inland central and northeastern Queensland. It's like a stormy soiree up there. Oh, and did I mention the heatwave? Central, southern, and southeast Queensland are about to sizzle like a frying pan. So, stay cool, stay safe, and maybe invest in a good ol' fan. It's going to be a scorcher out there, folks.

Wednesday, 22nd January

Hold onto your hats, folks! It's shaping up to be a scorcher in parts of Queensland today. We've got mostly sunny skies down in the far southwest, with some partly conditions hanging around the southern and central interior. But don't let that fool you - isolated showers and thunderstorms are lurking in other areas, with a chance of things getting a bit wild up north. Keep an eye out for any severe thunderstorms near the east coast between Rockhampton and the Sunshine Coast - they could pack quite a punch. And speaking of punches, temperatures are going to be above or well above average south of Georgetown, so make sure you've got your fans and ice packs at the ready. Oh, and did I mention the severe heatwave conditions? Yep, parts of central, southern, and southeast Queensland are going to be feeling the heat big time. So remember to stay hydrated, seek shade, and take care of yourselves out there. Mother Nature doesn't mess around when it comes to storms and heatwaves, so stay safe, folks!

Thursday, 23rd January

Hold onto your hats, Queenslanders! It's shaping up to be a scorcher out there, with temperatures soaring well above average in some parts. Keep an eye out for isolated showers and thunderstorms, especially up north near Port Douglas and in the southeast. And let's not forget about those heatwave conditions - they're no joke! Stay safe and hydrated, folks. It's all fun and games until someone gets heatstroke. So slap on that sunscreen, grab a cold drink, and hunker down until the storm passes. Mother Nature waits for no one!

Friday, 24th January

Prepare yourselves for another day of unpredictable weather patterns in our beloved state. In the far west, southwest, and southern interior, you can expect mostly sunny skies, a rare sight in these parts. But don't get too comfortable, as isolated showers and thunderstorms will be making surprise appearances elsewhere, especially in the northern interior, Gulf Country, and certain parts of central and southeast Queensland. Keep an eye out for those showers turning into widespread downpours over the northern Peninsula - you never know when a storm might decide to throw a tantrum. Speaking of tantrums, severe thunderstorms are on the horizon for central and southeast Queensland. The exact locations of these storms are still up in the air, much like a toddler's favorite toy. So stay on your toes and be prepared for anything. And if that wasn't enough to keep you on your toes, brace yourselves for temperatures soaring well above average south of Georgetown. Our friends in the northern Peninsula and far southwest might be luckier, with temperatures hovering near average. But wait, there's more! We've got some severe to locally extreme heatwave conditions brewing in central, southern, and southeast Queensland. It's like Mother Nature decided to turn up the heat just for kicks. So please, stay safe out there, folks. Stay hydrated, seek shade, and maybe invest in a good fan or two. And remember, when in doubt, just blame it on the weatherman.

Region Round-up - BOM

North Tropical Coast and Tablelands

Region Forecast: Looks like we've got a classic recipe for a stormy day ahead. There's a medium chance of showers, with thunderstorms also on the cards. So be prepared for some wet weather, folks! With light winds in the morning becoming easterly, it's going to feel like you're in the eye of the storm. And don't be fooled by the overnight temperatures falling to a somewhat bearable 19-24 degrees - the daytime temperatures are expected to reach a scorching 30 degrees. So, stay safe out there and make sure to keep an eye on the skies. And if you do find yourself caught in a storm or heatwave, remember to seek shelter and stay hydrated. Mother nature can be unpredictable, so it's always better to be prepared than sorry.
