National Synoptic Situation

National Temperature and Rainfall

State conditions

QLD:

Well, it appears that our dear friend high pressure will be hanging around eastern Queensland for a bit. But watch out, because a pesky trough is sneaking in from the west, bringing with it some interior heat to add to the mix. By Friday, it may even make its way to the southeast coast, and then take its sweet time loitering over central Queensland for the weekend. So, if you find yourself caught in the crosshairs of this heatwave or storm, remember to stay safe and cool. And maybe invest in a good fan or some extra sunscreen - you never know what Mother Nature has up her sleeve.

NSW and ACT:

Hold onto your hats, folks! A high pressure ridge is taking over the eastern half of the state, while a trough is meandering through the west, bringing some scorching hot and dry conditions. But don't get too comfortable, because this trough is about to hit the road and make way for a cool and gusty southerly change on Wednesday. This southerly buster will be making its way to Sydney Wednesday afternoon, so brace yourselves for some wild weather. Remember to stay safe and hydrated during these stormy and sweltering days. And don't worry, a high pressure system will come to the rescue over the weekend.

VIC:

Get ready for some wild weather as a trough makes its way across central Victoria and heads towards the East coast. But don't get too comfortable, because a ridge is coming to shake things up in western and central Victoria. It's like a dramatic dance between the trough and the ridge, with Mother Nature showing off her moves. As the trough moves back over central Victoria on Thursday, brace yourself for more stormy weather. But fear not, as a new ridge will swoop in on Friday and Saturday to bring some calm after the storm. Just remember to stay safe and be prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws your way.

SA:

Oh, joy! Looks like we've got some thrilling weather patterns ahead in South Australia this week. A ridge of high pressure over the waters to our south, along with a trough in the northeast, will be creating some south to southeasterly flow. And just when you thought it couldn't get any better, a new high will be setting up south of the Bight on Friday, bringing in some southeast to easterly flow for Saturday. So, brace yourselves for some potential storms and heatwaves as we navigate through these exciting weather systems. Remember to stay safe and prepare accordingly for any extreme conditions that may come our way. It's all in the name of science, folks!

WA:

Well, isn't Mother Nature just feeling feisty up in the Kimberley with that low pressure trough? And let's not forget about our friend Cyclone Sean, who's decided to take a vacation to the southwest. Don't worry though, he's keeping his distance from the Pilbara coast so you can relax... for now. Remember, when dealing with storms and heatwaves, safety is key. So stay indoors, keep cool, and ride out the weather like a pro. And who knows, maybe Mother Nature will decide to give us a break soon. Stay safe out there!

TAS:

Get ready for some classic Tasmanian weather rollercoaster! A weak cold front is set to crash the party from the west on Wednesday morning, followed by a ridge sweeping in to save the day in the afternoon. But wait, there's more! A trough will deepen over eastern Bass Strait on Thursday, creating some stormy drama before making its grand exit on Friday. And just when you thought it was safe to come out, another ridge will make its grand entrance. But hold on to your hats because a cold front is planning to shake things up over the weekend. So stay safe out there, folks, and don't let Mother Nature catch you off guard!

NT:

Well, it seems like Mother Nature is feeling a bit moody up in the northern parts of the NT. There's a low-pressure system causing a bit of a stir, along with a trough hanging around the Tanami and Barkly Districts. Keep an eye out for some stormy weather as it drifts southwards into the far southern parts of those districts. But don't worry, a weak ridge across southern NT will come to the rescue and strengthen things up on Friday. Just remember to stay safe and be prepared for any heatwaves or storms that may come your way!
