National Synoptic Situation

National Temperature and Rainfall

State conditions

QLD:

Prepare yourselves, dear Queenslanders, as a feeble ridge of high pressure lounges over our tropical region for the foreseeable future. A cheeky trough is sauntering its way across inland southern Queensland today, shoving all that interior heat towards our eastern side. Keep an eye out on Friday as this trough potentially saunters over to the southeast coast, where it might decide to take a leisurely stroll over central Queensland this weekend. Meanwhile, a trough in the northern Coral Sea is eyeing Cape York Peninsula for a potential visit late in the weekend. To add to the excitement, a Coral Sea trough and Tasman high are teaming up to bring us some onshore winds and moisture along the tropical east coast next week. Brace yourselves for potential increased rainfall, as these weather elements plan to throw a stormy party in our neck of the woods. Remember, safety first in the face of storms and heatwaves. Stay hydrated and cool, and keep an umbrella handy. Mother Nature may have a mischievous sense of humour, but we can outsmart her by being prepared and staying safe.

NSW and ACT:

Hold onto your hats, folks! We've got some stormy weather headed our way as a low pressure trough makes its way up the coast. But don't worry, a high pressure ridge will come in to save the day by Thursday. Meanwhile, out west, a stubborn low pressure trough is just hanging out, joined by some broad troughing in the Tropics. And just when you thought it couldn't get any more exciting, a cold front will be making its way through the south of the state on Friday. So, stay safe out there and make sure to keep an eye on the weather forecast. And remember, when it comes to storms and heatwaves, it's always better to be safe than sorry!

VIC:

Prepare yourself for some wild weather as a high in the Southern Ocean and a trough in NSW team up to create chaos. The trough will be making its way south over central Victoria on Thursday, so hold onto your hats. But don't worry, a high is coming to save the day over the weekend, bringing some much-needed relief. Just make sure to stay safe and weather the storm like a pro.

SA:

Well, it seems like a high pressure ridge is calling the shots in our state right now, with a sneaky trough up in the far north east creeping its way northward. As the days pass, we can expect some south easterly winds thanks to those high pressure systems down south. Keep an eye out for a trough making its grand entrance from the west on Saturday. And hey, with all this talk of pressure systems and troughs, just a friendly reminder to stay safe out there, especially during any potential storms or heatwaves. Safety first, folks!

WA:

Well, isn't Mother Nature just feeling a bit dramatic over the Kimberley with that low pressure trough? And let's not forget about Tropical Cyclone Sean, who's decided to keep things interesting by staying well offshore and gradually weakening. Looks like we might be in for some wild weather, so stay safe out there and make sure to keep cool during any heatwaves or storms that come our way.

TAS:

Well, it seems like Tasmania is in for a rollercoaster of weather events. From high pressure systems to troughs and weak cold fronts, we've got it all. Just when you think it's safe to go outside, here comes a westerly stream to shake things up. And let's not forget about the storms and heatwaves that could come along for the ride. It's like Mother Nature is playing a game of weather roulette with us. So, remember to stay safe out there, folks. Keep an eye on the forecast and make sure you're prepared for whatever she decides to throw our way.

NT:

Ah, it appears that the northern NT is currently being graced with a lovely broad area of low pressure, how delightful. Meanwhile, a trough is making its presence known in the southern parts of the Territory, accompanied by a weak ridge to the south that seems to be gaining strength as the week progresses. As we all know, when low pressure areas and troughs come together, it can lead to some rather exciting weather patterns, such as storms and heatwaves. So, do be sure to stay safe and prepared as you go about your day. Who knows what Mother Nature has in store for us next!

Temperature and Rainfall Forecast - Access-G

Thursday, 23rd January

In some parts of the Central West, Darling Downs and Granite Belt, Maranoa and Warrego, and Channel Country, we can expect some rather intense weather conditions. Brace yourselves for some potentially tumultuous storms and scorching heatwaves. Remember to take necessary precautions to ensure your safety during these extreme weather events.

Friday, 24th January

A smattering of showers and thunderstorms scattered throughout Queensland today, with a particular focus on the north. Keep an eye out for severe thunderstorms in the inland areas, especially south of Moranbah and east of Taroom. And don't forget about the scorching heatwave conditions in central, southern, and southeast Queensland - it's like being in an oven out there! Stay safe and hydrated, folks. Mother Nature is not messing around today.

Saturday, 25th January

Prepare yourselves for a mixed bag of weather today, folks. We've got some scattered showers and thunderstorms popping up all over the place, especially in northern Queensland and the central and southeast regions. Keep an eye out for those isolated showers turning into something more widespread up in the northeastern Peninsula. Now, let's talk about the heat. It's going to be scorching hot, with temperatures soaring well above average in some areas. If you're inland south of Georgetown or west of Dalby, you're in for a real treat. And don't forget about those severe to locally extreme heatwave conditions lingering in parts of northern and central Queensland. So, stay safe out there, folks. Keep cool, stay hydrated, and don't get caught in any storms or heatwaves. Mother Nature is showing off today, so let's make sure we're prepared for whatever she throws our way.

Sunday, 26th January

Looks like we've got some scattered showers and thunderstorms popping up across Queensland today, so be sure to keep an eye out for those. And don't forget your umbrellas! If you're in the far southwest, it's looking partly cloudy - perfect weather for a picnic or a leisurely stroll. Just watch out for any sudden storms that might come rolling in. And speaking of storms, those in the north, central, and eastern parts of Queensland might want to brace themselves for some scattered showers and thunderstorms. It's like a little game of weather roulette - will you get wet or stay dry? Down in the South East Coast, it's more about the showers than the thunderstorms. So if you're in that area, make sure to grab your raincoat before heading out. And for those living along the northeast tropical coast, be prepared for some widespread showers. It's like Mother Nature decided to throw a water party and everyone's invited! As for temperatures, they're pretty much all over the place. Near average on the east coast, above average inland, and well above average in the west. It's like Goldilocks and the Three Bears, but with temperatures instead of porridge. And let's not forget about the heatwave conditions in central and northeastern areas. It's like Mother Nature turned up the heat dial a little too high. So stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe out there, folks!
