National Synoptic Situation

Synoptic Situation for

QLD:

Watch out, Queenslanders! A ridge is flexing its muscles along the east coast, while an upper trough is slowly making its way northeast over the southern interior. This dynamic duo is set to bring some stormy weather to parts of the south east coast today, with more rain expected along the tropical east coast in the coming days. And if that wasn't enough, a new trough is gearing up to enter western Queensland next week. So, batten down the hatches and grab your umbrellas, because it looks like we're in for a wild ride. Stay safe out there, folks!

NSW and ACT:

Well, brace yourselves, mere mortals of New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory, for a high pressure system is currently chilling in the Tasman Sea, extending its ridge over our heads. This means we can all expect some settled conditions for the next few days. However, do keep an eye out for a sneaky trough and cloud band making its way into the far southwest on Sunday, creeping its way eastward over the following days. And remember, amidst the calm and tranquility, storms and heatwaves can strike when we least expect it. So, stay safe out there, my fellow weather enthusiasts, and don't let the elements catch you off guard.

VIC:

Well, it seems like Mother Nature is feeling a bit indecisive lately. A high pressure system is pushing some warm northerly winds across Victoria, while a low pressure trough is causing a bit of a stir in the Bight. This trough is expected to make its way across western Victoria on Saturday, then leisurely move through central districts at night. By Sunday, it will decide to stick around before finally making its way over to eastern Victoria on Monday and Tuesday. So, it looks like we might be in for some stormy weather and possibly even a heatwave. Stay safe out there and make sure you have your umbrella handy. And maybe a fan, just in case. Let's hope Mother Nature figures out what she wants soon!

SA:

Well, buckle up folks, it looks like we've got a high pressure system chilling out over the Tasman Sea. Meanwhile, a low pressure trough is making its way over to the far west, ready to stir things up. This trough is set to travel eastwards across South Australia throughout the weekend, taking its time to cause a ruckus before finally settling over the far northeast corner by Sunday night. But wait, there's more! A new high is gearing up to take over south of the Bight on Sunday, while another trough is preparing to swoop in from the west early to mid next week. So, if you happen to be in the path of these stormy shenanigans, be sure to stay safe and brace yourself for some wild weather ahead. Let's just say, it's going to be a real rollercoaster ride of storms and heatwaves!

WA:

Well, isn't that just peachy? A lovely low pressure system has decided to grace us with its presence over the Pilbara, Kimberley, and North Interior regions. This means we can expect some delightful storms and possibly even a heatwave. So, be sure to stay safe out there and maybe invest in a good umbrella or a sturdy fan. After all, we wouldn't want anyone getting caught in a storm without proper protection, now would we?

TAS:

Well, it seems like Tasmania is in for a bit of a rollercoaster ride with some warm northerly winds blowing in from the east. This is going to stick around until Saturday when things shift to a westerly flow thanks to a weak trough passing through. But don't get too comfortable, because by Sunday and Monday we've got a weak high hanging out over the Bight that's going to weaken that flow over Tasmania. And just when you think it's all calm, a weak trough is set to make an appearance on Tuesday evening. So, while you're enjoying the sunshine and maybe even a storm or heatwave, make sure to stay safe out there. Mother Nature can be a tricky one, so it's always best to be prepared for whatever she throws your way. Stay safe, folks!

NT:

Hold on to your hats, folks! The Northern Territory is in for a wild ride with scattered showers and thunderstorms thanks to those pesky easterly winds up north. Meanwhile, down south, dry northeasterly winds will be blowing through, making it feel like a desert without the mirage. But wait, there's more! A trough from Western Australia is making its way over to southern NT, bringing along more showers and thunderstorms starting Saturday. And if you thought it couldn't get any worse, heavy rainfall is expected to join the party on Sunday, making a splash in southern and central districts. So, buckle up and stay safe out there, because it looks like stormy weather and heatwaves are here to stay for most of next week. Mother Nature sure has a sense of humor, doesn't she?

Saturday, 23rd November

Grab your umbrella and sunscreen, folks! Queensland is in for a mixed bag of weather today. Expect a sprinkling of showers in the east and north, with a chance of thunderstorms up north. Meanwhile, the west and southern interior will be basking in the sunshine. Remember to stay safe in any storms or heatwaves that may come your way.

Sunday, 24th November

It seems like Mother Nature is feeling a bit indecisive today, with showers popping up here and there in eastern Queensland. Up north, it's a different story with showers spreading out around Townsville. Out west, there's a chance of isolated showers and maybe even some thunderstorms in the mix. The southern and central interior are looking partly cloudy, keeping things interesting. Temperatures are hovering near average, but heading towards above average in the southwest - so keep cool out there, folks, and stay safe in the midst of these stormy shenanigans.

Monday, 25th November

Well, it seems like some parts of Queensland will be experiencing a bit of wet weather, with showers scattered around the east and potentially turning into a full-blown storm up north. In the west, Gulf Country, and western Peninsula, there may be isolated showers and even some thunder. Meanwhile, the southern and central interior will just be partly cloudy - no need to bring out the sunblock just yet. As for temperatures, they'll be hanging around the average mark, except for the southwest where it might be a tad warmer and the far west where it'll be a bit cooler than usual. So, make sure to stay safe out there, especially in any stormy or scorching hot conditions.

Tuesday, 26th November

Watch out for some scattered showers in eastern Queensland, with the North Tropical Coast getting hit the hardest. Don't be surprised if you hear some thunder rumbling in western Queensland - those storms are making their way east, so keep an eye out. The eastern interior will be partly cloudy, so don't forget your sunglasses. Temperatures are looking pretty normal overall, but things might get a bit toasty in the southeast. On the flip side, the west will be feeling a bit cooler. Stay safe out there, especially if you're caught in a storm or heatwave.

Region Round-up - BOM

North Tropical Coast and Tablelands

Region Forecast: Looks like Mother Nature is feeling a bit moody today, with a high chance of showers near the coast and a medium chance elsewhere. There's even the possibility of a thunderstorm to add some excitement to your day. So, make sure to hold onto your umbrellas and stay safe out there! With winds coming from the east to southeasterly direction at 20 to 30 km/h, it's like Mother Nature is giving us a gentle reminder of her power. Overnight temperatures will be dropping to a cool 19 to 23 degrees, while daytime temperatures will be heating up to a scorching 26 to 33 degrees. It's like she's playing a game of hot and cold with us. So, remember to stay hydrated, seek shade when needed, and be prepared for any sudden changes in the weather. Mother Nature may be unpredictable, but as long as we stay safe, we can weather any storm or heatwave she throws our way.
