Queensland Synoptic
In Queensland, a trough is slowly moving across the interior, a ridge is sticking around in the east, and a tropical low is chilling out in the Coral Sea, but don't worry, it's not coming too close to shore.
Forecast for Herbert and Lower Burdekin:
Looks like we've got some cloud cover rolling in, with a slight chance of a shower - probably when you least expect it. The winds will be light at first, but watch out for them picking up to a southeasterly breeze in the morning. Overnight, it'll cool down to the high teens to low 20s, but get ready for those temperatures to climb back up into the low 30s during the day. So, grab your umbrella just in case, and maybe a fan too - you never know what surprises this weather has in store for us!

Monsoon Special:
The next monsoon pulse due in Phase 6 (Gulf to Coral Sea) around the 26th March to 2nd April. Due to the 3rd pulse normally being weak, it tends to come around quicker so could be a week earlier.
Keeping a steady eye on the low, even looking as far as 6 days out which I don't normally do, but based on the agreement between models I can push it this far and maintain good confidence in the forecast. The 22nd is where the low will form and the 26th is where the low starts to move back to the coast after moving away. After that there is disagreement in intensity and positioning which would be of no use to people apart from it moving a little closer to the coast, but which part of the QLD coast is the disagreement. As we saw with the floods recently, the finer movements are important. Still 6 days away from being able to determine which part of the coast needs to be preparing and which just needs to stay alert.
