Queensland Synoptic

Eastern Queensland will continue to be dominated by a ridge, bringing with it persistent weather patterns for the next few days. The northern Coral Sea will see a trough extending over the Peninsula and Torres Strait, working with the ridge to bring increased winds and showers along the east coast. A tropical low within the trough is predicted to move east or southeast, staying far from the Queensland coast, but may develop further in the coming days.

Forecast for Herbert and Lower Burdekin:

Looks like we've got some sneaky showers on the horizon, popping up mainly in the late morning and afternoon. Don't forget to bring your trusty umbrella! The winds will be switching things up from southeasterly to easterly throughout the day, eventually calming down by the evening. Expect overnight temps to dip down to the low 20s, while daytime highs will be hanging out in the low 30s. Time to break out those summer clothes!

Monsoon Special:

The next monsoon pulse due in Phase 6 (Gulf to Coral Sea) around the 26th March to 2nd April. Due to the 3rd pulse normally being weak, it tends to come around quicker so could be a week earlier.

The 28th starting to be more steady with the forecasts having 22U sitting off the QLD coast of around 600km to 800km, and ENE of Mackay. After that we are starting to see the High push it West towards the coast with all 3 models. What that means for Townsville is not a lot of rain, but cooler air as it is sucked into the West side of the low over the coast.
