High pressure over southeast Australia extends ridge across Queensland. High moves into Tasman Sea today, causing southeasterly wind surge moving north along east coast. Ridge weakens later, high moves east. Trough and cold front move across southern Queensland this weekend and early next week.

High pressure system over SE Australia creates strong ridge over Queensland. High moves to Tasman Sea, causing southeasterly wind surge along east coast. Ridge weakens later as high moves east. Trough and northern edge of cold front move across southern Queensland over weekend and early next week.

  • Thursday: Thursday: Partly cloudy with some showers in the east, becoming more scattered around the North Tropical Coast, Central Coast, and Whitsundays. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Above average minimum temperatures, especially in the far west. Above average maximum temperatures in the southwest, average elsewhere.

  • Friday: Friday: Some clouds and showers along the coast, fog in the southeast, mostly sunny elsewhere. Above average temperatures, especially in the southwest.

  • Saturday: Saturday will have some clouds and coastal showers in the east, scattered showers in the North Tropical Coast, and isolated showers and thunderstorms in the southwest. Some fog in the southeast in the morning, but mostly sunny elsewhere. Temperatures will be above average.

  • Sunday: Partly cloudy, isolated showers in east near coast, scattered along southern Queensland coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Above average minimum and maximum temperatures in southern interior, near average elsewhere.

Max 26°C. Shower or 2. Chance of rain: 70%. Partly cloudy. High chance of showers, becoming less likely in afternoon and evening. Winds E to SE 20-30 km/h, becoming light late evening.


Herbert and Lower Burdekin

Max 26°C. Shower or 2. Chance of rain: 60%. High chance of showers in the north, medium chance elsewhere. Winds E to SE 25-35 km/h.


North Tropical Coast and Tablelands

Max 25°C. Poss. shower. Chance of rain: 50%. Partly cloudy. High chance of coastal showers, medium chance elsewhere. Winds E to SE 25-35 km/h.


Cairns
