National

Strong Tasman Sea high extends ridge over state. Weak trough weakens east across southern Queensland, moving high east across southern Australia, extending new ridge over state and reaching Tasman Sea on Tuesday. Queensland ridge weakens as high moves east. Trough may move east across southern and central Queensland late next week.

State

A strong high in the Tasman Sea will extend a ridge over the state. A weak trough will move east across southern Queensland on Saturday, weakening on Sunday. A high will move east across southern Australia, extending a new ridge over the state from the weekend. The ridge will weaken as the high moves east and reaches the Tasman Sea on Tuesday. A trough may move east across southern and central Queensland late next week.

  • Sunday: Eastern districts and the Torres Strait: isolated to scattered showers. North Tropical Coast and K'gari: showers become widespread at times. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Morning frost inland in southern Queensland. Morning fog inland in the southeast. Maximum temperatures above average in the southern interior, near average elsewhere. Minimum temperatures above average.

  • Monday: Some showers in the east and Torres Strait, becoming widespread at times on the North Tropical Coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Frosty mornings in southern Queensland. Above average maximum temperatures in the south, average elsewhere. Average minimum temperatures.

  • Tuesday: Scattered showers on the east coast, northern Cape York and Torres Strait. Widespread showers at times on the North Tropical Coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Morning frost and fog inland in the southeast. Above average max temperatures in the southwest, near average elsewhere. Average min temperatures.

  • Wednesday: On Friday, expect scattered showers on the east coast and Torres Strait, becoming more widespread along the North Tropical Coast. Showers will decrease to isolated on the east coast north of Ingham. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Morning frost inland in southern Queensland. Above average maximum temperatures in the southwest and south of Winton, near average elsewhere for minimum temperatures.


Townsville

Max 27°C. Partly cloudy. Chance of rain: 5%. Winds S to SE 15-20 km/h, shifting to E to SE 15-25 km/h in the middle of the day, then becoming light in the evening.


Herbert and Lower Burdekin
