A broad trough will deepen over eastern areas, bringing showers and storms to VIC, southern & eastern NSW, and QLD, some severe. Onshore winds will bring showers to TAS.

Troughs and lows will cause showers and storms to northern WA and the NT. Clearer conditions elsewhere.

Weak trough to dissipate over Cape York Peninsula. Broad low-pressure trough aids shower and storm development in central and southern Queensland. New trough moves into southwest on Sunday, slowly moves east across central and southern Queensland. Upper trough begins crossing southern Queensland on Sunday, enhancing showers and thunderstorms in eastern Queensland. Trough weakens on Wednesday, another trough possible late next week.

  • Sunday: Some showers and storms in the east and north. More widespread storms in the southeast later today, possibly severe with strong winds, hail, and heavy rain in central and southern Queensland. Clear in the west. Winds from the northeast, becoming light southwest to northwest in the far west. Severe heatwave in the northern interior and northwest.

  • Monday: Isolated showers and thunderstorms in most of the state, with more widespread showers in eastern districts south of Townsville. Chance of severe thunderstorms with damaging wind, heavy rain, and large hail in central and southern Queensland and in eastern districts south of Townsville. Mostly sunny in the far southwest. Severe heatwave conditions in the northern interior and northwest, high fire dangers in western and interior Queensland. Higher temperatures than usual in the northwest, Central West District, and southeast, cooler in the southwest, and around average elsewhere.

  • Tuesday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms across the state, except southwest and southern interior. Widespread showers in eastern districts south of St Lawrence. Possible severe thunderstorms in central and southeastern Queensland. Mostly sunny in the southwest. Severe heatwave conditions in the north and northwest. High fire dangers in western and interior Queensland. Maximum temperatures above average in the northwest, Central West District, and the southeast, below average in the southwest, and near average elsewhere. Minimums below average in west and southern interior.

  • Wednesday: Some showers and thunderstorms in eastern and Far North Queensland. Mostly sunny in the west, central and southern interior. Temperatures above average, except in the southwest. Heatwave conditions in the northwest, northern interior, and possibly developing in South East Queensland. Cooler nights in the west and southern interior.



North Tropical Coast and Tablelands:

Max temperature: low to mid 30s; Min temperature: low to mid 20s; Wind speed: light winds becoming northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h in the early afternoon; Wind direction: northeasterly; Rainfall: medium chance of showers inland, slight chance elsewhere; Other: partly cloudy, chance of thunderstorm inland in the late morning.

Herbert and Lower Burdekin:

Max temperature: 33 to 38, Min temperature: low to mid 20s, Wind speed: light becoming northerly 15-25 km/h, Wind direction: N, Rainfall: slight chance of a shower, Other: Partly cloudy, chance of thunderstorm in the late morning.

Central Coast and Whitsundays:

Max temperature: 32 to 37°C, Min temperature: low to mid 20s, Wind speed: Light winds becoming northerly 15 to 25 km/h, Wind direction: Variable, Rainfall: Slight chance of a shower, Other: Partly cloudy, Chance of a thunderstorm.

Peninsula:

The weather will have a max temperature of 37, a min temperature in the mid 20s, light winds becoming north to northeasterly, and a chance of showers and thunderstorm with partly cloudy conditions.

Gulf Country:

Mostly sunny with a slight chance of showers, becoming thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Max temperature: 37-43°C, min temperature: mid to high 20s, wind speed: northerly 15-20 km/h becoming north to northwesterly 20-30 km/h, rainfall: slight chance of showers, wind direction: northerly.

Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders:

Max temperature: 36 to 43, Min temperature: low to mid 20s, Wind speed: 15 to 20 km/h, Wind direction: northerly to northwesterly, Rainfall: slight chance of shower in the late afternoon and evening, Other: Mostly sunny morning, chance of thunderstorm in afternoon and evening.

Capricornia:
