Troughs and lows will trigger showers and thunderstorms over WA's east, the NT, QLD's north & east, & eastern VIC. Heat will be drawn ahead of these troughs into eastern QLD and parts of the interior. High pressure will keep dry conditions elsewhere.

A trough covers western, central, and southern Queensland. Both an upper and surface trough will impact the region, bringing rain and storms. The surface trough will weaken and become a low pressure area by Thursday and Friday. A new trough will appear next weekend, supported by an upper trough system. A ridge may form along the east coast as a high moves toward the Tasman Sea.

Wednesday: Showers and thunderstorms expected in eastern and northern Queensland. Some heavy showers in eastern areas south of Sarina. Severe thunderstorms with damaging winds, heavy rain, and large hail possible between Sarina and the Gold Coast, as well as in some eastern areas south of Ingham. Mostly clear in the southwest. Light to moderate winds from the northwest to northeast, changing to southeast to southwest in western Queensland, and west to southwest in the southern interior. Severe heatwave conditions in the northern interior and northwest.
Thursday: Isolated showers and thunderstorms in parts of Queensland, with severe thunderstorms possible between Sarina and Brisbane. Scattered showers in northern Cape York Peninsula. Sunny in the southwest, central, and southern interior. Severe heatwave conditions in multiple regions. Maximum temperatures near average in Cape York Peninsula, above average elsewhere.
Friday: Friday: Isolated showers and a possible thunderstorm throughout the state except the far southwest, mostly turning into showers in eastern districts between Cooktown and Bowen. Mostly sunny in the southwest. Severe heatwave conditions in the northwest, northern interior, west, and southeast. Temperature near average over Cape York Peninsula, well above average elsewhere.
Saturday: Saturday will have showers and thunderstorms across the state, except for the far southwest where there will be only showers. The east coast north of Bowen will mainly have showers. The far southwest will have mostly sunny weather. In the west, there will be severe heatwave conditions, while in the southeast, it will be getting milder. The maximum temperatures will be well above average, but near average over Cape York Peninsula..
