National

Troughs and lows in the north to bring showers and storms to north and central WA, western NT, QLD, and eastern NSW. Maintenance of heat across the interior and east due to the mentioned weather systems. A southerly change expected to bring showers up the NSW coast. Onshore winds likely to bring showers to Tasmania, Victoria, and southwest WA.

State

A trough stretches across parts of Queensland, with a ridge along the east coast. An upper level system will bring increased rain and storms in eastern areas over the weekend. A ridge along the east coast will strengthen from Sunday, while the surface trough weakens on Tuesday.

  • Saturday: Isolated showers and thunderstorms in eastern and inland northern Queensland, becoming scattered in the western Peninsula. A slight chance of isolated showers or thunderstorms in the southern interior near the NSW border. Partly cloudy along the east coast between Bowen and Cooktown, mostly clear elsewhere. Light to moderate winds from the northwest to northeast, turning south to southwest in far western Queensland in the evening.

  • Sunday: Some showers and thunderstorms in eastern and coastal areas of Queensland. Showers becoming widespread in central and southeast Queensland. Possible severe thunderstorms in central and eastern regions. Mostly sunny in the southwest. Heatwave conditions in the northwestern and northern interior. Above average temperatures in the North West and Central West Districts, near or slightly below average temperatures in the southeast.

  • Monday: Few showers and thunderstorms statewide, except for far southwest, with only showers expected along the east coast north of Cairns and the South East coast south of Redcliffe. Central and eastern districts north of Brisbane and south of Charters Towers also likely to experience showers at times. Risk of severe thunderstorms in inland eastern and central districts between St Lawrence and Gayndah, and east of Barcaldine. Mostly sunny in the far southwest. Heatwave conditions in the northwest. Above average temperatures in the west, near average in central and southeastern districts, and elsewhere.

  • Tuesday: Most of the state will have isolated showers and thunderstorms, with only showers expected on the east coast north of Innisfail and the South East coast. Scattered showers will occur in eastern and northern Queensland. The far southwest will be partly cloudy. The west will have heatwave conditions and temperatures well above average, while other areas will have temperatures near average or above.



North Tropical Coast and Tablelands:

Max temperature: 31 to 36, Min temperature: low to mid 20s, Wind speed: light to 20 km/h, Wind direction: east to northeasterly, Rainfall: Mostly sunny morning with chance of thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening.

Herbert and Lower Burdekin:

Max temperature: 33 to 39, Min temperature: low to mid 20s, Wind speed: light becoming north to northeasterly 15 to 25 km/h, Wind direction: north to northeasterly, Rainfall: Mostly sunny morning, chance of thunderstorm inland in the afternoon and evening.

Central Coast and Whitsundays:

Max temperature: 33 to 38, Min temperature: low to mid 20s, Wind speed: light winds becoming northerly 15 to 25 km/h, Wind direction: northerly, Rainfall: slight chance of a shower, Other: mostly sunny, chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening.

Peninsula:

Max temperature: 34 to 39, Min temperature: mid 20s, Wind speed: light becoming easterly 15 to 20 km/h, Wind direction: light becoming easterly, Rainfall: slight chance of shower near west coast, near zero chance elsewhere, Other: mostly sunny with chance of thunderstorm in afternoon and evening.
