National

Troughs and lows will bring scattered showers and thunderstorms to various regions, including parts of WA, western SA, the NT, QLD, NSW, and VIC, with some potentially intense activity. These troughs and lows will increase humidity in the east while maintaining heat in the central, northern, and western interior. Dry conditions are expected elsewhere.

State

Complex trough to persist over western QLD, deepening later. Upper-level system to move east over central and southern QLD, causing showers and storms. Coast trough to enhance rainfall, weakening and moving out by Wednesday. High pressure ridge to extend along QLD coast midweek, potentially strengthening next weekend.

  • Tuesday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms across most of the state. Showers mainly on the east coast north of Cooktown. Widespread showers over central and eastern districts south of Charters Towers. Severe thunderstorms possible in inland eastern and central districts between Georgetown and Injune, and east of Richmond. Heavy rain likely in parts of Southeast Coast and southern Wide Bay and Burnett. Mostly clear in far southwest. Moderate winds in far southwest, light to moderate winds elsewhere, becoming moderate in southeastern Queensland. Severe heatwave in parts of northern and far southwest Queensland.

  • Wednesday: Most of the state will have isolated showers and thunderstorms. Showers will be scattered at times along the east coast. The far southwest will be partly cloudy. Some areas in the north and west will experience severe heatwave conditions, with temperatures well above average in the west and mostly above average elsewhere. Eastern central Queensland will have temperatures near average.

  • Thursday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms state-wide, showers along east coast south of Cooktown. Partly cloudy in far southwest. Severe heatwave in parts of north and west; high temperatures throughout.

  • Friday: Most of the state will have isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms. The east coast between Mackay and Cooktown will have only isolated showers. Southeastern Queensland may have showers that become scattered to widespread at times. Parts of the Cape York Peninsula will continue to have heatwave conditions. Maximum temperatures will be above average, but near average in the southeast.



North Tropical Coast and Tablelands:

Max temperature: 34, Min temperature: 20, Wind speed: 15-25 km/h, Wind direction: east to northeasterly, Rainfall: medium chance of showers, Thunderstorm possible, Partly cloudy.

Herbert and Lower Burdekin:

Max temperature: Low to mid 30s, Min temperature: Low to mid 20s, Wind speed: Light winds becoming northeasterly 15 to 25 km/h, Wind direction: North easterly, Rainfall: Medium chance of showers, Other: Partly cloudy with a chance of thunderstorm.

Central Coast and Whitsundays:

The weather will be partly cloudy with medium chance of showers and a thunderstorm, with max temperature of 29 to 34, minimum temperature in the low to mid 20s, light winds becoming east to northeasterly and rainfall expected.

Peninsula:

Max temperature: 39, Min temperature: mid 20s, Wind speed: 15-25 km/h, Wind direction: east to northeasterly, Rainfall: slight chance of a shower, Other: Sunny morning, chance of thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening, light winds becoming east to northeasterly in the morning and light in the evening.

Gulf Country:

Max temperature: 40, Min temperature: mid to high 20s, Wind speed: north to northeasterly 20-30 km/h, Wind direction: northerly, Rainfall: slight chance of a shower, Partly cloudy. Chance of a thunderstorm.

Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders:

Maximum temperature: 32 to 39, Minimum temperature: low to mid 20s, Wind speed: 15 to 25 km/h, Wind direction: north to northeasterly to east to northeasterly, Rainfall: High chance of showers about Gregory Ranges, medium chance elsewhere, Thunderstorms possible.

Capricornia:

Maximum temperature: low to mid 30s, Minimum temperature: 19 to 23, Wind speed: light winds becoming east to northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h, Wind direction: east to northeasterly, Rainfall: medium chance of showers, most likely in the late morning and afternoon, Other: partly cloudy, chance of a thunderstorm, overnight temperatures falling.

Central Highlands and Coalfields:

Max temperature: low to mid 30s, Min temperature: 19-22, Wind speed: light becoming 15-20 km/h, Wind direction: east to northeasterly, Rainfall: medium chance of showers, Other: Partly cloudy, chance of thunderstorm.

Central West:

Max temperature: 43 | Min temperature: 20 | Wind speed: 25 to 35 km/h | Wind direction: Northeasterly | Rainfall: Slight chance of a shower | Other: Partly cloudy with chance of a thunderstorm.

North West:

Maximum temperature: low to mid 40s, minimum temperature: low to high 20s, wind speed: 20 to 30 km/h (northerly), wind direction: northerly, rainfall: slight chance of a shower in the northeast, near zero chance of rain elsewhere, other: mostly sunny with a chance of thunderstorm from late morning.

Channel Country:

Max temperature: 39 to 45; Min temperature: mid to high 20s; Wind speed: 25 to 35 km/h; Wind direction: northeasterly; Rainfall: near zero chance, slight chance near NSW border; Other: Mostly sunny, chance of thunderstorm, possibly severe.

Maranoa and Warrego:

Max temperature: 33 to 38, Min temperature: 19 to 26, Wind speed: 20 to 30 km/h, Wind direction: northeasterly, Rainfall: Chance of a shower and thunderstorm in the afternoon and evening

Darling Downs and Granite Belt:

Maximum temperature: 34, Minimum temperature: 19, Wind speed: 20-30 km/h, Wind direction: East to northeasterly, Rainfall: Partly cloudy with medium chance of showers in far east, slight chance elsewhere, Other: Chance of thunderstorm.

Wide Bay and Burnett:

Max temperature: 27-32, Min temperature: 18-21, Wind speed: light becoming east to southeasterly 15-25 km/h, Wind direction: east to southeasterly, Rainfall: high chance of showers with heavy falls and possible thunderstorms, other: Partly cloudy with a chance of flash flooding in the south.

Southeast Coast:

Max temperature: mid to high 20s; Min temperature: 18-21; Wind speed: light winds becoming east to southeasterly 15 to 25 km/h in the morning then becoming light in the late evening; Wind direction: east to southeasterly; Rainfall: cloudy with very high chance of showers and thunderstorms, heavy falls which may lead to flash flooding possible; Other: overnight temperatures falling to 18-21 with daytime temperatures reaching the mid to high 20s.
