Troughs and lows will generate showers and storms across WA, SA, the NT, QLD, VIC, and NSW. Troughs and lows will maintain humidity in the east and heat in the central and northern interior. A high will bring cooler, showery winds to the WA south coast and TAS.

State

A slow-moving complex trough will bring more showers and storms to western Queensland. A weak low pressure system off the southern coast will move away. High pressure will strengthen along the coast over the weekend. A weak trough may pass over the southeast on Friday and Saturday.

  • Thursday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms in western and northern Queensland, with isolated showers along the east coast. Partly cloudy in the southern and central inland. Winds vary across the region.

  • Friday: Most of the state will have isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms, with just isolated showers along the east coast. Showers may become scattered to widespread in southeastern Queensland. There is a risk of severe thunderstorms in inland southeast Queensland. Heatwave conditions are easing in the west but persisting in parts of the Cape York Peninsula. Maximum temperatures are above average, but closer to average in the southeast.

  • Saturday: Saturday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms across most of the state, mostly showers in southeast Queensland and the east coast north of Townsville. Lingering heatwave in parts of Cape York Peninsula. Temperatures above average in Far North Queensland, below average in the southeast, and near or above average elsewhere.

  • Sunday: There will be showers and thunderstorms across most of the state, mainly showers in southeast Queensland and the east coast north of Ingham. Showers could become more widespread in parts of the west, with heavy rain possible in thunderstorms. Heatwave conditions in parts of Cape York Peninsula will decrease. Temperatures will be above average in Far North Queensland, below average in the west, and near average elsewhere.



North Tropical Coast and Tablelands:

Max temperature: 30-35°C, Min temperature: 19-25°C, Wind speed: light, Wind direction: easterly, Rainfall: none, Sky condition: Mostly sunny

Herbert and Lower Burdekin:

The weather will be mostly sunny with a slight chance of a shower and temperatures ranging from the low to mid 20s overnight to 32 to 37 during the day, with light winds becoming northeasterly.

Central Coast and Whitsundays:

Max temperature: 37, Min temperature: low to mid 20s, Wind speed: light winds becoming east to northeasterly 15 to 20 km/h, Wind direction: east to northeasterly, Rainfall: slight chance of a shower, Other: Mostly sunny with overnight temperatures falling to the low to mid 20s.

Peninsula:

Max temperature: mid to high 30s; Min temperature: mid 20s; Wind speed: Light becoming easterly 15-20 km/h; Wind direction: No information; Rainfall: Medium chance of showers north of Coen, near zero chance elsewhere; Other: Mostly sunny with a chance of a thunderstorm.

Gulf Country:

Max temperature: high 30s, Min temperature: mid to high 20s, Wind speed: light becoming 15 to 25 km/h, Wind direction: northwest to northeasterly, Rainfall: medium chance of showers, Chance of thunderstorm, Partly cloudy.

Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders:
