Rain event forecast special
Saturday: Rain entering the state across the entire Western border, previous forecasts had it in a smaller location. ACCESS has it now as two regions, one to the North West and then Central to the South of the Western border. The EC has it across the entire Western border. Rainfall is expected to be around 10 to 30mm today. Trade winds and rainfall picking up along the FNQ coastline North of and including Innisfail.
Sunday: Rainfall entering to more Central regions with amounts upwards of 20 to 70mm according to the EC. ACCESS very similar but the amounts around Winton to Longreach could see upto 125mm or more. Trade wind rainfall eases along FNQ coast but picks up between 5 to 10mm around Mackay.
Monday: The trough shifts further East and dumps around 20 to 50mm across the dividing range and approaches the opposing trade winds and could be some big rainfall around Townsville and the Burdekin, and also North of Cairns. These system forecasts could shift upto 200km by the time we get to Monday. On average it looks like between 20mm and 40mm along the QLD coast.
Tuesday: Most of the rainfall clears apart from the Whitsundays to the SE of QLD. Completely clear by Wednesday.
National
A strong high pressure system over the western Bight brings cool southwesterly flow across central and southern Queensland for several days. An upper trough with cloud and rain will move from northwest to east across Queensland, gradually contracting to eastern and southern regions by Tuesday and easing to showers in the east by Wednesday, while unsettled conditions may persist with a potential trough crossing southern and central Queensland later next week.
State
Cloudy with areas of rain in far western Queensland, isolated showers in northeast Cape York Peninsula and the Torres Strait, morning frost in the southern and southeastern interior, light to moderate winds, below-average temperatures in certain regions, and near-average temperatures elsewhere.

Sunday: Cloudy with widespread rain in western, central, and northern districts, isolated showers elsewhere, morning frost in the Darling Downs and Granite Belt.
Monday: Cloudy with widespread rain in northern, central, and southern inland Queensland, scattered showers in southeastern eastern districts, below-average temperatures.
Tuesday: Widespread showers in eastern and adjacent inland districts, isolated showers in the Peninsula and Torres Strait, mostly sunny in the far west.
Wednesday to Friday: Scattered showers in eastern and adjacent inland districts, mostly sunny in western Queensland, below-average temperatures in the west.
Townsville
The weather at the Aitkenvale PCYC cat club show is purr-fect, with a maximum temperature of 27 degrees and partly cloudy skies. No need to worry about any rain spoiling the event! The gentle winds will playfully shift from northeast to southeasterly, adding a touch of whimsy to the atmosphere. So grab your catnip and get ready for a furr-tastic day of adorable feline antics at the show, where even the weather forecast is meow-nificent!
