Rain event special

Currently the convergence is forming around the Burdekin and will spread to areas around this during the day, mostly in the afternoon with earlier isolated showers.
Areas North of Townsville will also see showers throughout the day, as far North as Cairns. Later in the day the rain will spread to the dividing ranges further South as per the maps below.
The EC has the showers a lot lighter, however, the ACCESS is the local forecast and shows worst case for now.
National
Western Australia's high extends a ridge over the state, slowly moving east for several days. A trough forms over central and eastern Queensland, moving offshore near the Central or Capricornia Coasts on Monday. The trough weakens and shifts northwards from Tuesday. The high moves over southeastern Australia on Tuesday, extending a firm ridge over the state. The high reaches the Tasman Sea on Thursday, weakening as it continues east for the following few days. A trough may move across southern Queensland late next week.

Isolated showers in southern, eastern, and central QLD east of Longreach, mostly in the afternoon. Scattered showers in Torres Strait. Mostly sunny in northwest QLD, partly cloudy elsewhere. Morning frost inland in southern and central QLD. Max temps near average in eastern districts, below average elsewhere. Min temps below average in south and west, above average near Townsville and Mackay, near average elsewhere. Light to moderate SE to SW winds, fresh at times in northwest QLD. Winds turning NE to SE on east coast north of Bundaberg and in southeast interior later morning.

Tuesday: Some isolated showers in eastern and central Queensland, becoming more widespread on the Central Coast. Showers also in the Torres Strait. Fresh to strong winds in central and western districts and the east coast.

Thursday: Showers in east, more widespread in North Tropical Coast until Sat. Showers decrease north of Rockhampton Fri. Isolated showers in far southwest and northern Torres Strait. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Morning frost inland. Above average temperatures, except in southeast where minimum temps near average.
Townsville
