North Queensland

  • Townsville Max 26°C, Showers 80%. Partly cloudy. High chance of showers, decreasing later. Winds: E to SE 25-40 km/h, easing to SE 15-20 km/h in the evening, then light.

  • Herbert and Lower Burdekin Max 25°C, Possible shower 40%. Cloudy. Showers likely in the north, slight chance elsewhere. Winds: SE 15-25 km/h, shifting to E 20-30 km/h in the morning, then light in the evening.

  • North Tropical Coast and Tablelands Max 25°C, Possible shower 40%. Cloudy. Showers likely in the south, slight chance elsewhere. Winds: E to SE 25-35 km/h.

  • Cairns Max 27°C, Shower or two 70%. Partly cloudy. Showers likely, becoming less likely late morning. Winds: SE 20-25 km/h, increasing to 25-35 km/h in the morning.

  • Mackay Max 23°C, Possible shower 40%. Partly cloudy. Showers possible, most likely later tonight. Winds: SE 25-35 km/h.

High over southeastern Australia extends firm ridge over Queensland, moving to Tasman Sea, weakening ridge as it moves east. Weak troughs may move across southeast Queensland over weekend and early next week.

A high-pressure system in southeastern Australia will weaken as it moves eastward into the Tasman Sea, causing a ridge over Queensland to weaken too. Weak troughs may move across southeast Queensland during the weekend and early next week.

  • Friday: Partly cloudy with scattered showers in the east. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Morning fog and frost in some areas. Below-average minimum temperatures in the southeast. Above average elsewhere. Near-average maximum temperatures along the east coast. Above average elsewhere and well above average in the southwest.

  • Saturday: Some clouds and showers in the east and north, sunny elsewhere. Fog in the southeast, frost in the Granite Belt. Temperatures are mostly above average.

  • Sunday: Partly cloudy with isolated showers on the east coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Patchy morning fog in the southeast, and morning frost in the Granite Belt. Minimum temperatures are near or below average in the southeast, and above average elsewhere. Maximum temperatures are near average on the east coast, above average elsewhere and well above average in the southern inland.

  • Monday: Partly cloudy with isolated showers along the east coast. Scattered showers on the North Tropical Coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Morning frost on the Granite Belt. Above average temperatures, especially in the southern inland.
