Monsoon Update

TC Megan currently located in the Gulf of Carpentaria, has recently completed a clockwise loop and is now picking up speed as it heads towards the southwest coast. Expected to make landfall near the Sir Edward Pellew Group in approximately 24 hours, the cyclone is forecasted to maintain its intensity despite moderate environmental shear. While there is agreement among deterministic track guidance models, there is concern about track speed variability in the first 36 hours. Intensity guidance remains mixed, with some models suggesting additional intensification. However, the forecast predicts a peak intensity of 95 knots.

Pink concerts in Townsville still looks to be expecting light showers for the Friday and heavier showers on the Saturday but easing back in the late afternoon.

Easter still has early showers Friday and rain on Saturday to 10mm. But nothing after that.

National

In the tropics and northwest of Western Australia, Tropical Cyclone Megan and monsoon troughs are anticipated to generate intense rain, storms, and winds. Heavy showers and storms are expected to scatter across the east of Queensland and New South Wales due to humid and unstable winds. Meanwhile, in Victoria, Tasmania, South Australia, and central Australia, isolated showers and storms are forecasted with weaker instability.
