National
Today we see the continuing low-pressure system producing rain around the Pilbara and Gascoyne regions of WA. That is flowing into SA today. The low off the East coast of Tasmania extends a trough over the SEQ that will tail to the NW today and the storms that were at their peak yesterday should make their way up the coast through Bundy to Rocky. The rest of the storms along the dividing ranges.
State
Temperatures are soaring today in the North but cooling South of the trough running from Bundy along the central QLD coast with the other part of the trough reaching the Central Highlands and bending towards the NW. By the end of today, the storms should be crossing the coast around Yeppoon. Storms are also possible further North of Yeppoon this afternoon. Likely and severe for the Normanton region of the Gulf.
4-day
The tail of the trough will continue to make it's way along the coast from Yeppoon to the North towards Mackay by tomorrow. A new trough over the dividing range inland will form and there maybe some showers and isolated storms associated with that over the weekend. Also some showers with the return of South Easterly trade winds. This will depend on the ridging of the High marked by the blue arrows. Riding over the coast will keep the rain away.
