Storms special report
Troughs merging will lead to scattered showers and storms across much of the NT, central Australia, QLD, and NSW, with some being intense. The troughs will maintain warmer, humid air to their north and east. A trough in WA will swing inland, taking some heat with it. A high-pressure system will bring clearing conditions to the south. The NQ coast still looking at the heaviest showers/rain 27 to 29. When we get closer we will add the detailed maps.

Central Queensland trough moves west, deepens with moisture. Trough persists, driven by
southern Australia troughs. Weak Tasman Sea high maintains ridge. New high strengthens ridge, moves east. High reaches Tasman Sea Friday/Saturday.
State
A trough will move over western Queensland, bringing moisture across the state. It will
last for several days and be supported by upper troughs moving east. A weak high in the
Tasman Sea will maintain a ridge along the east coast. On Thursday, a new high will strengthen the ridge as it crosses the Great Australian Bight. By Friday or Saturday, the high will reach the Tasman Sea.

Sunday: Some showers and thunderstorms expected in central and western areas, possibly severe in the central interior. Mostly clear in the far north and southern interior, partly cloudy elsewhere. Light to moderate winds from the northeast to southeast, occasionally fresh near the Capricornia Coast. Variable winds in the southwest.
Monday: Monday's weather forecast includes showers and thunderstorms in western, central, and southern districts. There will also be widespread showers with periods of rain. Severe thunderstorms are possible in the far west and southern interior. Isolated showers are expected on the northeast coast. The rest of the areas will be partly cloudy. Maximum temperatures will be below average in western and central districts. They will be well below average in the southeast and southern interior, while near average elsewhere.
Tuesday: Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms across the state, mainly showers along the east coast. Showers may become widespread at times with rain southeast of Emerald. Temperatures below average in southeast and southern interior, near average elsewhere.
Wednesday: Scattered showers & storms across state, showers on east coast. Below average temps in west & central, near average elsewhere.

The chance of a thunderstorm from late morning. Light winds becoming south to southeasterly 15 to 25 km/h in the morning, then becoming light in the evening.
