National

Weak ridge persists along east coast, slow-moving trough deepens, enhancing rain and storms. Trough may drift east over southeast inland, then push back to western Queensland. Moist and unstable airflow persists east of trough, moving westward next week.


State

Weak ridge to last along east coast for few days, slow moving trough in inland QLD, deepening and enhancing storms, trough may drift east then west, easterly airflow to persist and move west.


4-day

  • Saturday: Isolated showers in central/southern districts, scattered inland with thunderstorms. Chance of showers/thunderstorms near Gulf of Carpentaria coast. Severe thunderstorms possible in southern/central inland. Mostly clear southwest, partly cloudy elsewhere with smoke haze in central/southeast. Light to moderate south/southeast winds in west, central/south interior. Light to moderate southeast/northeast winds elsewhere.

  • Sunday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms in central and southern districts south of Mackay to Charleville. Showers becoming widespread in southeastern Queensland, with areas of rain. Isolated showers along the east coast north of Mackay. Possible showers or storms in the Gulf Country and northern interior. Severe thunderstorms possible in the southern and central inland. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Temperatures above average in the northwest and below average in the southeast.

  • Monday: There will be showers and thunderstorms in the Gulf Country and northern interior, scattered in central and southern districts. On the east coast, there will be isolated showers with a chance of thunderstorms inland. South East Queensland may experience scattered to widespread showers at times. It will be partly cloudy elsewhere. Maximum temperatures will be near or above average in the far west and below average in the southeast, while minimum temperatures will be near or slightly below average.

  • Tuesday: Expect isolated showers and thunderstorms in the Gulf Country and northern interior, scattered in central and southern districts. Isolated showers near the east coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Temperatures above average in the far west and below average in central southeastern districts. Minimum temperatures near or slightly below average, but above average in the far southwest.


Townsville

Min 23°C, Max 31°C, Partly cloudy. Chance of rain: 5%. Winds NE 15-20 km/h, becoming light before dawn, then NE 15-25 km/h in the morning.

Herbert and Lower Burdekin

Min 20°C, Max 31°C, Partly cloudy. Chance of rain: 5%. Chance of inland thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening. Winds NE 15-25 km/h, becoming light early in the morning, then NE 20-30 km/h in the morning.

North Tropical Coast and Tablelands

Min 18°C, Max 32°C, Partly cloudy. Chance of rain: 0%. Winds E 20-30 km/h.

Cairns

Min 22°C, Max 31°C, Partly cloudy. Chance of rain: 20%. Slight chance of a shower. Light winds, becoming E 15-20 km/h in the morning, then light in the evening.

Mackay

Min 19°C, Max 29°C, Partly cloudy. Chance of rain: 10%. Winds NE 15-20 km/h, tending E 15-25 km/h in the middle of the day, then becoming light in the evening.

Northern Goldfields

Min 22°C, Max 39°C, Sunny. Chance of rain: 5%. Slight chance of a shower in the southeast from late morning. Near zero chance of rain elsewhere. Slight chance of a thunderstorm in the southeast from late morning. Winds E to NE 15-25 km/h, tending SE to SW in the late afternoon, then NE to SE 20-30 km/h in the evening.

Mt Isa

Min 23°C, Max 40°C, Sunny. Chance of rain: 0%. Winds SE 20-30 km/h, tending E in the morning, then turning S to SE 15-20 km/h in the middle of the day.
