National

Weakening ridge over northeast QLD, persists over weekend. Cooler change from NW QLD to SE Coast. Slow-moving southeasterly change, stalls over weekend. Second trough system moves east across southern QLD from Monday, followed by high pressure and return of southeasterly winds from Tuesday.

State

A weakening ridge will linger over northeastern Queensland over the weekend as a high over the Tasman Sea extends. A trough and cool change will stretch from northwest Queensland to the South East Coast. The cooler southeasterly wind change along the South East Coast will gradually move north this evening, but will stall and weaken over the weekend. From Monday, a second trough system will move east across southern Queensland, followed by the return of southeasterly winds along the east coast from Tuesday, as a new ridge of high pressure forms.


4-day

  • Saturday: Isolated showers and possible thunderstorm in Sunshine Coast, Wide Bay, Burnett, and southern Central Highlands. Isolated showers in northern Cape York Peninsula and Torres Strait. Mostly clear elsewhere. Light to moderate south-southwesterly winds in the interior. Moderate northeast-southeasterly winds in eastern and Far Northern Queensland, strengthening on the eastern Peninsula Coast.

  • Sunday: Sunny with above average temperatures in central and southern Queensland, especially in the southeast.

  • Monday: Sunny and above average temperatures, especially in southeastern Queensland. High fire dangers in southern interior and inland South East Queensland.

  • Tuesday: Few showers along Gold Coast and bay islands. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Below average temperatures in southwest, above average in central and northern districts.


Townsville

Min 19 Max 30 Sunny. Chance of any rain: 0%. Light winds becoming NE 15 to 20 km/h in the middle of the day, then becoming light in the evening.

Herbert and Lower Burdekin

Min 17 Max 31 Sunny. Chance of any rain: 0%. Light winds becoming NE 15 to 25 km/h in the middle of the day.

North Tropical Coast and Tablelands

Min 14 Max 34 Sunny. Chance of any rain: 0%. Winds E to SE 15 to 20 km/h becoming light early AM, then E 20 to 30 km/h in the morning.

Cairns

Min 18 Max 32 Sunny. Chance of any rain: 0%. Light winds becoming E 15 to 25 km/h in the morning, then tending SE in the evening.

Mackay

Min 17 Max 29 Sunny. Chance of any rain: 0%. Light winds becoming E to NE 15 to 20 km/h in the middle of the day, then becoming light in the evening.

Northern Goldfields

Min 20 Max 37 Partly cloudy. Chance of any rain: 0%. Winds NE to SE 15 to 20 km/h, becoming N to NE in the morning, then NE to SE in the middle of the day.

Mt Isa

Min 17 Max 34 Sunny. Chance of any rain: 0%. Winds S 15 to 20 km/h, becoming SE 20 to 30 km/h early AM, then light in the midday.
