Tropical Low

The tropical low NE of the Solomon Islands is deepening to 995hPa Sunday and will deepen further to 980hPa by Monday as it drifts slowly SSW towards Vanuatu. At this point it will be well fed from the warm humid air to the NE and mix with warmer but drier air from the South East creating severe storms. The Satellite is now showing great form and some partial circulation. The cloud covers a very large area. Tuesday is where the tropical low will reach it's peak, and as it reaches more dry air and cooler waters it will start to degrade a little. A low now in the Tasman Sea is blocking a High that might have guided the low differently.

National

High pressure over Tasman Sea extends across eastern Queensland, promoting settled conditions. Western Queensland trough moves eastward then lingers. Trough may reinvigorate, sweeping east across southern Queensland. Tropical low forms near Solomon Islands but likely stays offshore.

State

High pressure in the Tasman Sea brings settled conditions to eastern Queensland for several days. A trough over western Queensland will move eastward and become slow-moving early next week. An approaching frontal system may cause the trough to reinvigorate and move across southern Queensland from Wednesday. A tropical low is developing near the Solomon Islands and could move into the northeastern Coral Sea next week, but is not expected to directly impact the Queensland coast.
