Rain event special
As the tail of the trough shifts further North the showers continue to move North. It should clear by mid morning tomorrow. Storms expected by about 2pmish tomorrow around Mount Isa and to the South.
National
Large high moves east over Great Australian Bight, firm ridge extends across Queensland. High moves to Tasman Sea, maintaining ridge into next week. Trough in northern interior deepens, aiding shower activity. Trough may move east across south from Tuesday, weakens.
State
A big high moving over the Great Australian Bight will bring a strong ridge to most of Queensland. The high will move to the Tasman Sea on Sunday, keeping the ridge over the east of the state for most of next week. A trough over the northern interior will move westward and intensify, leading to showers and thunderstorms in the area until early next week. This trough may then move east across the southern part of the state from Tuesday and become weaker.

Sunday: Isolated showers on the east coast and northern Peninsula, central inland, and northeastern interior. Scattered showers from Cooktown to Townsville and the South East Coast. Widespread showers later in the Wet Tropics. Mostly clear elsewhere with light to moderate southeasterly winds, occasionally fresh along the east coast.
Monday: Isolated showers along the east coast, becoming scattered in the North Tropical Coast. Widespread showers at times in the Cassowary coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms west of Mount Isa to Charleville, becoming scattered in the far southwest later. Fresh winds in the tropical east coast and central interior. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Near or below average temperatures. Minimum temperatures becoming above average in the far southwest.
Tuesday: Isolated showers on the east coast of Bundaberg, scattered showers on the North Tropical Coast. Isolated showers and chance of thunderstorms in the southern interior west of Blackall to St George. Near or below average temperatures.
Wednesday: Expect isolated showers along the North Tropical Coast and a chance of storms inland in southeast Queensland. Minimum temperatures will be near or below average, while maximum temperatures will be near average, with the far south experiencing slightly higher temperatures. The central and northern interior regions will have high fire danger.
Townsville

Herbert and Lower Burdekin
Min 19 Max 28 Mostly sunny. Chance of any rain: 10%. Slight chance of a coastal shower, near zero elsewhere. E winds 25 to 35 km/h.
North Tropical Coast and Tablelands
Min 18 Max 28 Partly cloudy. Chance of any rain: 20%. Medium coastal shower chance, slight elsewhere. E to SE winds 25 to 40 km/h.
Cairns
Min 21 Max 29 Shower or two. Possible rainfall: 0-3 mm. Chance of any rain: 60%. Partly cloudy. Medium chance of early morning showers. SE winds 25 to 40 km/h.
Mackay
Min 19 Max 26 Windy. Cloud clearing. Possible rainfall: 0 mm. Chance of any rain: 30%. Partly cloudy. Slight chance of a shower. SE winds 30 to 45 km/h.
Northern Goldfields
Min 19 Max 33 Sunny. Chance of any rain: 0%. Winds E 25 to 40 km/h.
Mt Isa
Min 19 Max 32 Shower or two developing. Possible rainfall: 0-2mm. Chance of any rain: 50%. Mostly sunny morning. Medium chance of afternoon and evening showers with a chance of thunderstorms. Winds SE 20 to 30 km/h, turning E/NE in the morning, then becoming light in the early afternoon.
