High in Tasman Sea extends over state, drifting north. Trough moves into southern Queensland on Wednesday, weakens by Friday. High moves east across southeastern Australia on Thursday, extending new ridge over state. High taining ridge.

  • Thursday: Afternoon showers and thunderstorms possible in southeastern districts. Isolated showers in the North Tropical Coast and Torres Strait. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Temperatures above average, except for near average in the Far North. Min temperatures above average, trending near average in the northern interior.

  • Friday: Isolated showers near Hervey Bay and Townsville, and in Torres Strait. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Temperatures near average in some areas, above average in others.

  • Saturday: Isolated showers on the Sunshine Coast and Wide Bay, Far North Queensland coast, and Torres Strait. Partly cloudy in the southwest, mostly sunny elsewhere. Temps near average in the north, above elsewhere, and well above in the southwest. Min temps near average in the north and east coast, above elsewhere, and well above in the southwest.

  • Sunday: Isolated showers in Whitsundays and North Tropical Coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Above average temperatures in southern inland Queensland, above average elsewhere, near average in the far north.

Herbert and Lower Burdekin

North Tropical Coast and Tablelands

Max 27°C Partly cloudy. Slight chance of a shower. Winds east to southeasterly at 25 to 35 km/h.

Cairns

Max 28°C Partly cloudy. Slight chance of a shower. Winds southeasterly 15 to 20 km/h, increasing to 20 to 30 km/h in the morning, then becoming light in the evening.
