Inland trough in Queensland weakens and moves westward today. High in southeastern Australia extends ridge over state, drifting east over the weekend and maintaining it.
State
Today, a trough inland over central and southern Queensland will weaken as it drifts westward. A high moving east over southeastern Australia will extend a ridge over most of the state today and into Saturday. Over the weekend and early next week, the high will drift east, keeping the ridge in place.

Saturday: Saturday will have some clouds and isolated showers in the North Tropical Coast and Torres Strait, turning into scattered showers in the Cassowary Coast. It will be mostly sunny elsewhere. Temperatures will be near average in the Far North, well above average in the southwest and southern interior, and above average elsewhere. There will be high fire dangers in the northern and central interior.
Sunday: Partly cloudy with showers in east coast and scattered showers in Cassowary Coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Temperatures near average in Far North, well above average in southwest and southern interior, above average elsewhere. High fire dangers in central and southern interior.
Monday: Partly cloudy with scattered showers in the east coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Temperatures near average in Far North, above average in southwest and southern interior, and elevated fire dangers in the west and interior.
Tuesday: will have some clouds and showers on the east coast and scattered showers on the North Tropical Coast. Clouds will increase as showers and thunderstorms spread across southern Queensland. Temperatures will be near average in the Far North, above average in the interior, and above average elsewhere. Cooler conditions will spread from the west on Thursday.
