National

Weak ridge persists over eastern and northern state. Trough moves east across southern QLD, potentially slows in South East on Wednesday. Weak ridge extends over state after trough. Significant trough may cross southern and central QLD on Thursday and Friday.

State

A weak ridge will stay in the east and far north of the state for a few days. A trough will move east across southern Queensland today and become slow-moving in the South East on Wednesday. After the trough passes, a weak ridge will extend over the state. Another stronger trough may cross southern and central Queensland on Thursday and Friday.


4-day

  • Wednesday: Partly cloudy with showers and thunderstorms in central and southern areas. Sunny elsewhere. High Fire Dangers in central and northern interior. Higher temperatures in the south, average elsewhere. Warmer minimum temperatures in the southeast, slightly cooler elsewhere.

  • Thursday: Isolated showers and thunderstorms in southern and southeastern districts south of Taroom and east of Charleville. Isolated showers on the east coast north of Ingham and in Torres Strait, becoming scattered in the Wet Tropics. Partly cloudy on the east coast, mostly sunny elsewhere. Elevated fire dangers in the interior, with extreme conditions in the northern interior and northwest. Fresh and gusty northwesterly winds in the southwest and southern interior, followed by a southwesterly wind change. Possible raised dust in the far southwest. Above average maximum temperatures south of Hughenden and well above average in the southern interior, near average elsewhere. Above average minimum temperatures south of Longreach, near or slightly below average elsewhere.

  • Friday: Isolated showers and thunderstorms in central and southern districts south of Rockhampton and east of Carnarvon Ranges to Goondiwindi. Isolated showers along the east coast north of Mackay and in Torres Strait. Scattered showers on the North Tropical Coast and widespread on the Cassowary Coast. Partly cloudy on the east coast, mostly sunny elsewhere. Elevated fire dangers in the interior, locally extreme in the north and northwest. Max temperatures near/above average in eastern and northwestern districts, near/below average elsewhere. Min temperatures near/above average east of Longreach, below average elsewhere.

  • Saturday: Partly cloudy with showers in the east and scattered showers in the northeast coastal areas. Widespread showers along the Cassowary Coast on Saturday. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Elevated fire dangers in the northwestern and northern interior. Temperatures near or slightly above average in the Gulf, near or below average elsewhere. Minimum temperatures above average in the Far North, below average elsewhere, and well below average in the southern and southeastern interior from Sunday.

Cairns

Max 29°C, Sunny, 0% Rain, Light winds, E/SE 20-25 km/h midday, light evening.

Mackay

Max 27°C, Mostly Sunny, 0% Rain, Light Winds.

Northern Goldfields

Max 34°C, Partly Cloudy, 0% Rain, Sunny, NW/NE winds 15-20 km/h, becoming light midday.

Mt Isa
