Weak Tropical Low 02U

A weak tropical low called 02U is sitting south of Timor-Leste and is expected to drift east across the Timor Sea this week towards the Northern Territory coast.
Over the next few days it stays a tropical low, not a cyclone.
From about Thursday onwards, conditions over the warm Timor Sea mean it could strengthen, and the chance of it becoming a tropical cyclone goes up to “moderate” late in the week.
If it does develop, it would most likely be near the western and northern Top End coast late in the week or over the weekend.
It’s too early to say exactly what it will do, but people around the western and northern Top End should keep an eye on forecasts and official warnings through the week in case a tropical cyclone does form.
