Special report

Monsoon:

Ex Tropical Cyclone 03P (Jasper) is now a low and making it's way over to the Gulf. Still dropping heavy rain over the FNQ but should ease tonight as it continues moving West. We will track the system as there is a chance at this stage of redevelopment in the Gulf as it moves towards Nhulunbuy.


Storms:

A tropical low (ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper) will bring heavy rain, storms, and strong winds to north QLD. Troughs will maintain heat and generate showers and storms in the NT and QLD. A front and trough should bring showers to TAS. Highs will keep much of the country's south dry.

Former Cyclone Jasper moves west across Cape York Peninsula and enters southern Gulf of Carpentaria on Friday. Tasman Sea's high keeps ridge over southern and central Queensland, while trough moves east and brings increased heat and unsettled conditions in southern Queensland.

Former Tropical Cyclone Jasper moves west across Cape York Peninsula, reaching the southern Gulf of Carpentaria on Friday. A high in the Tasman Sea creates a ridge over southern and central Queensland. A trough in western Queensland moves eastward, causing hotter temperatures and instable weather in southern Queensland over the weekend.

  • Friday: Rain and thunderstorms in southern Cape York Peninsula and Far North Queensland due to Ex-Tropical Cyclone Jasper. Showers in remaining eastern areas north of Mackay. Isolated showers and thunderstorms in western Queensland, possibly severe in Maranoa and Warrego. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Moderate east to northeasterly winds, fresh to strong in Far North Queensland. Winds tending west to northwesterly in the southwest.

  • Saturday: Saturday: Showers and storms in Cape York and North Tropical Coast, with heavy rain possible. Some showers and storms in inland and southeast Queensland, possibly severe in South East Queensland. Sunny in the southwest. Isolated showers in eastern districts between Cooktown and Townsville. Severe heatwave in the southeast. High temperatures in the southeast, cooler in Far North Queensland.

  • Sunday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms across Queensland, with some severe in the southeast. Sunny in the southwest. Severe heatwave in the southeast. Above average temps in the southeast and west, below average in the north.

  • Monday: Isolated showers and thunderstorms in SE, central, and NW Queensland. Scattered to widespread showers and thunderstorms on the Peninsula. Isolated showers in remaining eastern areas. Sunny in the southwest. Temps above average to the south of Hughenden, below average in the far north.


North Tropical Coast and Tablelands:

Max temperature: 28, Min temperature: low to mid 20s, Wind speed: 20 to 30 km/h easterly, Wind direction: easterly, Rainfall: Very high chance of rain with heavy falls possible, Other: Cloudy, chance of a thunderstorm.

Herbert and Lower Burdekin:

The weather for tomorrow will be cloudy with a high chance of rain, a chance of thunderstorms, winds from east to northeasterly at 15 to 20 km/h becoming light in the evening, and temperatures dropping to the low to mid 20s overnight and reaching 25 to 30 during the day.

Central Coast and Whitsundays:

Max temperature: around 30, Min temperature: low 20s, Wind speed: light becoming northeasterly 15 to 25 km/h then light, Wind direction: variable, Rainfall: slight chance of a shower, Other: Partly cloudy with chance of thunderstorm inland from late morning.

Peninsula:

Max temperature: 33, Min temperature: low to mid 20s, Wind speed: 15 to 25 km/h, Wind direction: northwest to northeasterly, Rainfall: Cloudy with very high chance of showers, chance of severe thunderstorms and heavy falls possible south of Coen.

Gulf Country:

Max temperature: 32 to 41, Min temperature: mid to high 20s, Wind speed: increasing from 20 to 30 km/h to 25 to 35 km/h then decreasing to 15 to 25 km/h, Wind direction: east to southeasterly then tending east to northeasterly, Rainfall: partly cloudy with very high chance of showers in the north and medium chance elsewhere, heavy falls possible in the north, Other conditions: chance of a thunderstorm.

Northern Goldfields and Upper Flinders:

Max temperature: 38, Min temperature: low to mid 20s, Wind speed: 20 to 30 km/h, Wind direction: east to northeasterly, Rainfall: Very high chance of rain in the north, medium chance elsewhere, Other: Partly cloudy with a chance of thunderstorm.

Capricornia:
