National

High moving over southern Australia extends high pressure across Queensland, southeasterly wind surge spreads north. Ridge lingers in eastern districts for days. Trough re-establishes in west Queensland, moves east across interior later in week.

State

High pressure extends across Queensland from a southern Australian high, bringing a southeasterly wind surge. The high will stay over eastern districts for a while. A trough will form in western Queensland on Wednesday and move eastward across the interior later in the week and weekend.


4-day

  • Wednesday: Mostly clear with smoke haze in the east and central interior. Winds will be moderate, becoming fresh and gusty along the southern Queensland coast.

  • Thursday: Isolated light showers around the North Tropical Coast, northern Peninsula, and Torres Strait. Chance of afternoon shower or thunderstorm in central and southern interior. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Average maximum temperatures in the southwest.

  • Friday: Sunny with scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the western Gulf Country. Above-average temperatures in the interior.

  • Saturday: Mainly sunny. Some scattered showers and thunderstorms in the western Gulf Country. Above average temperatures, especially in the southern interior.


Townsville

Min 20 Max 30 Partly cloudy. Chance of any rain: 20%. Slight chance of late AM and afternoon shower. Light winds becoming E 20 to 30 km/h in the morning, then becoming light late PM.

Herbert and Lower Burdekin

Min 19 Max 29 Partly cloudy. Chance of any rain: 10%. Slight chance of a coastal shower, near zero chance inland. Winds NE 15 to 20 km/h, light before dawn, then increasing to E 20 to 30 km/h in the early morning.

North Tropical Coast and Tablelands

Min 16 Max 31 Partly cloudy. Chance of any rain: 5%. Slight coastal evening shower risk, near zero inland. Winds E 25 to 35 km/h.

Cairns

Min 20 Max 31 Mostly sunny. Chance of any rain: 10%. Light winds becoming southeasterly 25 to 35 km/h in the morning.

Mackay

Min 20 Max 27 Partly cloudy. Chance of any rain: 10%. Winds east to southeasterly 25 to 35 km/h.

Northern Goldfields

Min 22 Max 37 Mostly sunny. Chance of any rain: 0%. Winds east to northeasterly 20 to 30 km/h.

Mt Isa

Min 19 Max 37 Sunny. Chance of any rain: 0%. Winds south to southeasterly 15 to 20 km/h, becoming east to southeasterly 20 to 30 km/h in the early morning, then becoming light in the middle of the day.
