National
High in southern Tasman Sea extends weak ridge over state. High drifting northward into Coral Sea, maintaining weak ridge over northeast. Trough moves southwest Monday, then east across southern QLD Tuesday, possibly reaching South East coast later. Trough may become slow moving in central districts Wednesday and Thursday. Dry, gusty northwesterly winds ahead of trough lead to hot conditions and elevated fire dangers inland central, southern, and western districts, peaking Tuesday.

The Tasman Sea high will weaken and move northward, while a trough moves into the southwest. Dry and gusty winds may cause hot temperatures and fire risks.

Monday: Isolated showers along northeast tropical coast north of Cairns, scattered in Torres Strait. Chance of thunderstorm near southern Gulf of Carpentaria coast west of Normanton. Partly cloudy on east coast, mostly clear elsewhere. Smoke haze possible in northwestern, central, and southern districts. Light to moderate winds, fresh at times on northern Peninsula. Winds turning north to northwesterly in far southwest later.
Tuesday: Isolated showers, possible thunderstorms in southern inland and South East Queensland. Chance of severe thunderstorms in Scenic Rim and Border Ranges. Mostly sunny, smoky haze in northwest, central, and southeast. Extreme fire dangers in Darling Downs and Granite Belt, high to extreme fire dangers in southern and central interior. Fresh northwesterly winds, changing to west-southwesterly. Above-average maximum temps, near-average north of Townsville. Below-average minimum temps in eastern districts and Far North Queensland.
Wednesday: Some showers and thunderstorms in eastern districts, especially near the coast. Severe thunderstorms possible along the east coast. Sunny elsewhere with some smoke haze. Dry and windy in western and inland southern Queensland, increasing fire danger. Above average temperatures, except in certain areas. Cooler temperatures along the tropical east coast and Far North Queensland.
Thursday: Possible isolated showers and thunderstorms in central and southeastern districts, with showers scattered at times along the east coast. Partly cloudy in eastern and far North Queensland, mostly sunny elsewhere. Maximum temperatures above average in the interior, near average along the east coast and southwest. Minimum temperature near or slightly below average in Far North Queensland.
