High in Tasman Sea extends ridge over state, weak trough lingers over Channel Country. High drifts north, trough moves southwest on Wednesday, weakens on Friday. High moves east, extends ridge over state. High drifts east, maintains ridge.
State
A Tasman Sea high extends a ridge over the state with a weak trough today. The high will move north slowly over the next days. A trough will move into the southwest of the state on Wednesday, passing through central and southeastern Queensland on Thursday, and weakening on Friday. A high will move east across southeastern Australia on Thursday, reaching the Tasman Sea on Friday, extending a new ridge. The high will then drift east over the weekend, maintaining the ridge.

Tuesday: Tuesday: Isolated showers on east coast, scattered on North Tropical Coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Temps near average in north/east, above average elsewhere. Min temps above average in southwest, near average elsewhere.
Wednesday: Isolated showers and possible thunderstorm south of Windorah. Isolated showers along east coast north of Townsville and in Torres Strait, becoming scattered over North Tropical Coast. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Higher temperatures in south of Hughenden, very high temperatures in southwest and southern interior, and average temperatures elsewhere. Higher minimum temperatures in southwest, average temperatures elsewhere.

Maximum temperatures will be above average in the south, especially in the southwest and southern interior, and near average elsewhere. Minimum temperatures will be well above average in the southwest and southern interior, and near average elsewhere.
